Owls, again
Well, it wasn’t expected. I’d thought I was going to move on and expand my work experience, and accepted a job working with ducks. Yet, by July I was back on the Olympic Peninsula, working in Quinault.

One of our more exciting sites held triplets, and this is one of them right after getting its’ pretty new colorbands.

Every study area has it’s killer site. In Quinault, it is Finley creek. Due to closed roads, it's a incredible hike in. But we found the pair, and they were nesting. This is one of the kids, just prior to being caught and banded.
Of course, the nice thing about returning to owl work, is I knew what I was doing. And even though it was a different section of the peninsula, the landscape was familiar. That being said, even a professional has her days (you'd think I'd know how to prepare myself for a day in the woods)
