Wanderlust

5 moves, 3 states, in 12 months

My life, in general, tends to be adventurous. In part because I follow my work, and that leads me to all sorts of places. For example, when I couldn’t find work in the fall of 2003, I left California and headed to Sandpoint, Id. My favorite trainer was there, and some friends from Hood River. While my horse had a place to stay, I spent two months living in

Yes, that is a tent. Nice woodburning stove, and it was built on a platform, so I had a porch and a metal roof overhead. Of course, it started to snow, so I moved into town and waited out the winter (and working at a call center, has its’ odd quirks).

Come spring, I was looking for my next wildlife job, and headed to Suisun Marsh to work with ducks.

(Egrets, ignoring the ‘No Trespassing’ sign, the work compound is in the background)

Unfortunately, that didn’t work out (an adventure of the not-so-good-at-all kind). So after staying with a friend for a month, I headed back to Washington, where the owl crew needed help (a crew of 3 was down to 1).

After leaving a job with a bunch of red-necked chauvinistic idiots, my first day in Washington I was greeted by this:

This is one of my favorite people, and yes, he’s wearing a skirt.
As were all the men at the solstice party we headed to.

(and all that traveling is with horse and all my belongings in tow).
