| In addition to the exhibition and as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations, a Gala Dinner was held at the Royal Perth Golf Club. To commemorate the evening a song was especially composed to celebrate the previous 10 years!! Western Dollmakers Song Composed by Pauline Groom to the tune of Botany Bay Chorus We’re the doll makers of West Australia We stitch and we stuff all day long We’ve put down our needles and stuffing tools To bring you this doll makers song Farewell to the house work for ever Forget about dust and the grot We all like to sit and make dollies With all the great patterns we’ve got There’s Rhonda whose dolls all have boobies And Delys’ dolls with big thighs There’s Anna whose dollies are stick things And Robyn’s with beautiful eyes. The newsletter comes from Rod Tonkin But it’s Pauline who does all the work There’s big dolls and small dolls and animals Like the camel made by Amy Quirk Now Brian is one out of place with us He comes with Beth Davis each time He’s quiet and never will make a fuss For most of us that is just fine. Val Power does a raffle with stuff from us. We give her the trims and the threads If we’re lucky there’s also some matching yarn To stick on our cute dollies heads. There’s Kelsey who dollies have lots of glitz She makes little pin dolls with glitter She uses the scraps from her other job And uses what we all call litter Michelle keeps her eye on the committee And now has the job to raise funds She selling the freddos and koalas Next year it’ll be hot cross buns. Ask Margaret about all the paperwork And minding the grandchildren too Sometimes she must say I just can’t do it For my dolls must be beautiful too. And Jennifer Smith was the postie When we did our elf swap in 04 She’d ride on her little red scooter And tell us we still must do more. Now Beth she won't make it with stitching But uses her buttons and glue With her love of felt and nice fabrics Her work always turns out true blue We have a great library of books to read It’s Marion checks them to go There’s sure every topic we’ll ever need From here we learn what we know This song it could go on forever There’s lots of girls that do great things. With beads and felt they are so clever So we’ll stop and hope everyone sings. |
