Rick plays Guitar and Bass and began playing back in 1964 in a folk trio. In 1965, he moved on to a Rock "Cover Band" by the name of The Beach Combers which soon became The | ||||||||||||||
Showman. They were one of the top Rock bands in the Cedar Rapids area in 1965/66. In 1966, Rick enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and his first exposure to Country Music was when he was stationed in Spain. He began playing Country Standards with two other enlistees, a young recruit on drums and a Spanish bass player. |

After the service in 1971, Rick played with a Blues Band for a short time before joining the Interstate 40 Band out of Amarillo, Texas. Rick played on the road with them for about 6 months playing a variety of Rock and Pop music. The group broke up in Texas and Rick returned to Cedar Rapids to play in an 8 piece brass band called Suede playing anything | ||||||||||||||

from old Rock & Roll to Chicago and a variety of other covers popular at that time. This band broke up in 1973 but Rick continued to play anything from Rock, Country-Rock, Blues and Country over the next 13 years. In 1986, he helped form a band called Daybreak which played new and old country along with some 50/60/70's Rock. This group was together for the next 17 years until disolving in 2003. Western Justice is proud to welcome Rick as the newest member of the group. Rick and his family reside in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he works at Mercy Hospital. |
