What Do I do!

WHAT DO I DO!! Well, there is a lot of stuff I do, and they pertain to all kinds of different things, like Student Rights, Gay Rights, Activism, and Latino stuff!!

As a student at Whitney Young High School, I did many things to be me!! My sophomore year, I petitioned the school to start a new class, Asian/Latino Literature.

During my Junior Year, I helped start a club called the Pride Club. This club is meant to eliminate the ignorance of issues concering gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people among the students of our school.

As a Senior, I have done even more. I served on the Local School Council, which is the decision making body of the school. I was elected by the student body. I also took a female impersanator to my Homecoming Dance. I gave them Drama!!!!!!!!

Most recently, I was elected to serve on the Chicago School Reform Board of Trustees as the Student Member, being the first openly gay student to be elected to such a postion in the nation as well as being the first Latino in Chicago to hold that position.

In February, I went in Drag to the Senior Class Winter Dance, SNOWBALL.

Throughout the years, I have also been involved in the Somos Latinos Coalition, the Aspira Club, and many other clubs at my school.

I also started Student Pride USA, a national organization now ran by GLSEN. It is the national alliance of all high-school based youth groups across the nation. For more info, email them here.

Of course, I took a guy to Prom.

Recently I have been honored by the Human Rights Campaign and GLSTN for my work in the past year. I was named by the Advocate Magazine as one of the "Best and Brightest Under 30." Also , check out the current issue of Out Magazine, as I was named one of the OUT 100!!

Now, I am a first-year student at DePaul University in Chicago. My Major is Political Science. I hope to be very successful here and hope I get to meet many new people. It seems pretty cool so far..

I guess that's about it for now, I'm sure I forgot a thing or two here and there, but when I remember, I'll be sure to update. I'm also gonna try to put some of the articles about me up on this page, so you can see!!
