Professonal Massage Techniques
REFLEXOLOGY: Reflexology is a
form of bodywork based on the theory of zone therapy in which
specific spots of the body are pressed to stimulate corresponding
areas in other parts of the body. Foot reflexology (when pressure
techniques are applied only to the feet) is the most common form
of reflexology. It feels great!
SHIATSU:
A
general term for japanese bodywork based on traditional chinese
meridian theory. Tsubu (i.e. acupoints) are pressed to balance
the flow of energy, or Ki, with practioner's thumb, elbow, etc.
SWEDISH: Refers to using
long strokes to promote blood circulation and increase oxygen to
your tired muscles. Promotes relaxation. Reduces stress. This is the type of massage most people desire.
DEEP
TISSUE: Shorter, slower strokes reaching deeper in
the layer of superficial fascia and muscle. Stimulates new blood
flow to a deeper level, stimulates healing of soft tissue.
SPORTS: Incorporates a
variety of massage techniques to help ensure and enchange
athletic performance. Pre-Sports Massage is used to revitalize
and stimulate muscle for optimum agility, while post-event is
used to rehabilitate and heal sports injuries by speeding up
recovery.
