Life of Bryan

chapter two

Three years later Sarah's life hadn't changed much. She had just quit college and was trying to find a job. "It's not fair" she told her friend Sherry "Why can't I be successful like everyone else from school?". "Not everyone's been successful," Sherry replied. "Look at Lizzie for example," she giggled "she was the smartest girl at school and look what she's doing now, she works in the school canteen!".

Sarah couldn't help but laugh. First of all because she had always been jealous of Lizzie as she was so smart and it was funny that she had to work at their rubbish, old school. And secondly because Lizzie was engaged to Anthony now and Sarah didn't think she deserved to be successful because of her lack of taste in blokes.

Sarah, although not completely, had gotten over Anthony. She had decided that although he had broken her heart he was only an immature lad and not the sharpest pencil in the pencil case. She had been scarred by what he'd done to her though. He had led her on and most cruelly rejected her and she had never been able to trust another bloke who had showed her any attention. She had had many short and meaningless relationships and they hadn't ended well. She was alone and although she had friends and relatives, she was very lonely.

Bryan however was on top of the world. He had joined a boyband 14 months previously and they were very successful. Their groupname was 'Westlife'. They had toured all over the world and had met many wonderful people. Bryan's co-members in the group were 4 chaps called Shane, Kian, Nicky and Mark. They got on like a house on fire, and were just like brothers. Or at least that's what Bryan thought, he didn't have a brother or a relationship with one to compare it to. Deep down down he was lonely too.

Bryan had had many girlfriends, none that were too serious but enough for him to have gained some experience with the opposite sex. He was single right now and hated it. He longed for someone to shower with affection and attention and to share his experiences with the group and all that had happened to him. He hated spending so much time alone in hotels in countries far away from home. He would winge to his groupmates and his best mate Eddie who would always just encourage him to go out to clubs, pubs and anywhere else to meet girls. These nights out only resulted in short flings with girls he regretted later and were few anyway because of his commitments to the group.

Sarah was sitting in front of the TV one evening while Watchdog was finishing on the telly. She'd got a job in a film production company and hoped her luck was changing. TOTP started on the telly and Sarah groaned. It was the same old groups repeated over and over again. She decided to call Sherry and chat to her instead. She pressed mute on the TV and called Sherry's number.

Ring ring, Sherry answered the phone sounding very excited. "What are you doing calling me now?" she yelled excitedly as she knew who had called her as the number had been displayed on her phone. "Sorry to bother you, I only wanted a chat" Sarah moaned "what's the matter with you?". "Have you got the telly on?" Sherry asked. "Yeah, there's some Boyzone clone group on, why?" Sarah said while quickly glancing at the screen but not really paying too much attention to what was on it.

"You see that bloke, in the middle with the brown hair?" Sherry asked. "Yeah, what about him?" replied Sarah getting closer to the screen to see what all the fuss was about. Shane Filan was singing his heart out, as usual, in the middle of Westlife's second released song 'If I Let You Go'. He was a very attractive lad. Not unlike Sean Astin, Sarah's favourite American actor.

"Very nice!" Sarah giggled "you fancy him or something?". Sherry laughed "I have excellent taste so of course!". Suddenly the camera swung to the left and Bryan came into view. Sarah fell silent while Sherry still kept on about Shane down the phoneline.

"You still there?" Sherry asked after a few moments of complete silence from her friend who usually wouldn't shut up once they were discussing blokes. "What?" answered Sarah in a daze. Sherry looked at the screen and admired Bryan. "He's a bit of alright too, eh!". Sarah didn't answer, too mesmerised with Bryan's good looks. "He's piggin' gorgeous!", she eventually muttered. He looked familiar to her.

Bryan sat in his hotel room in Milan and relaxed. He'd had a tiring day full of photoshoots, tv appearances and travelling. He laid back on his bed and started to drift off to sleep.

Bryan couldn't tell if he was awake or not but he felt incredibly peaceful. He was sitting in a dark red room on a four poster bed. The room looked like something out of 'Pride and Prejudice'. He laid back and tried to think what he was doing there when suddenly the door opened, creaking as it did.

In walked a young girl, about the same age as him. She had mousey, brown hair and green eyes that shone like emeralds. She was wearing a beautiful blue, silk dress. It had boned corsetry and she looked as though she had just stepped out from the past. She sat down in a chair in the corner of the room and stared at Bryan. She looked him up and down but displayed no emotion whatsoever.

Bryan was confused but couldn't speak. Though he desperately wanted to, he couldn't find the words. Suddenly the girl smiled at him. She shook her head and gazed at him admiringly. Bryan looked down at his body and was surprised to see himself in period costume too. His clothes were not as rich as the girl's but she didn't seem to mind.

She stood up and walked over to him. He looked up at her just as she reached him. Her eyes told him everything he needed to know. She loved him and he knew he loved her too. Who was she and why was he there? He opened his mouth to ask but the girl placed her finger on his lips to ssh him. She stroked his brow and moved his hair away from his eyes. She leant forward and softly kissed his lips. Bryan started swirling around and around.

He woke up with a start to Kian and Nicky filling his hands with whipped cream from a can and tickling him under the nose with a feather, hoping he'd shove his hands into his face. Luckily for Bryan he didn't do this and realised before it was too late. In his mind all he could picture was the girl. Her long wavy hair flowing and that smile, it melted his heart. Nicky and Kian were wrestling each other by this point. Each blaming the other for their prank not working. Bryan wiped his hands on his bathrobe that was beside him on the bed. He got up and went into the bathroom. He looked in the mirror and thought about his dream. "I'm sure I knew her, she looked so familiar" he thought to himself.

Sarah woke up in a cold sweat. She stroked her mousey, brown hair out of her green eyes. "Damn" she thought "I was really starting to enjoy that dream".
