Rrrrring, rrrrring

‘Anna, could you get that? I’m tied up at the moment,’ Shane yelled.

‘Sure. The Filan residence.’

‘Hi, Anna. It’s Jenny.’ She said in Swedish.

‘Hi, Jenny. Nervous about tonight?’

‘Actually that’s what I’m calling about.’

‘Oh?’

‘Do you have a dress I can borrow? I haven’t really packed anything suitable to wear at a party.’

‘Sure I have. You can just come over a little early and we’ll see what we can find for you.’

‘Thanks, you’re a life saver.’

‘Don’t mention it. It’s my pleasure.’

‘Who was that on the phone?’ Shane asked coming into the room.

‘It was Jenny. She’s coming over early tonight to borrow a dress for the party.’

‘As long as she doesn’t borrow that black one I bought you, I really want to see you in that one.’ Shane said putting his arms around me.

‘I bet you do,’ Anna said flirtingly and gave him a kiss.

There was a knock on the door.

‘Anna, Jenny’s here.’

‘OK, I’m coming.’

‘Hi, come in. We’re running a bit late so I’ll show you to my room right now,’ Anna said and started climbing the stairs.

‘Can I just use your bathroom first?’

‘Sure, it’s the second door on the right.’

One, two. This must be it, Jenny thought and opened the door. There was Bryan in his boxers.

‘Oh, I’m so sorry. I thought this was the bathroom, but I guess it’s not. I’m so sorry,’ I said and closed the door.

‘It’s the next one,’ Bryan shouted from inside.

I’ve never been so embarrassed in my whole life.

I went up to Anna and told her what had happened.

‘Don’t be embarrassed. I don’t think he really minds. Just forget about it.’

I knew I wasn’t going to but I was going to give it my best.

‘Here’s my dresses. You can have anyone but that one over there. I have to run an errand. Do you think you can manage on your own?’

‘Sure, the hardest thing is going to be to choose which one to wear. You have so many great ones.’

‘I know, he spoils me,’ Anna said going out the door. ‘If you want you can borrow some jewellery as well, they’re in the box on the drawer.’

I chose a white dress from the cupboard and as I was putting it on the door opened.

‘Anna, have you….’ Bryan said. ‘Oh, I’m sorry. I was looking for Anna. It seems like we have made this a habit of running in on one another getting dressed.’

I was struggling with the zipper behind my back.

‘Do you want some help with that?’ he asked.

‘Yes, please.’

He came in and helped me. as he were doing that he said:

‘I bet if Kian knew I was helping you like this he’d be wanting to do it himself.’

‘Why do you say that?’

‘No reason,’ he said and gave me a big smile when he went out and closed the door.

I was coming down the stairs when I saw Kian with Shane and Bryan below. Kian looked up.

‘Wow, I must be the luckiest man here,’ he said. ‘Don’t you agree guys?’

‘She’s beautiful,’ Shane said. ‘But she’s not as beautiful as my Anna.’

Bryan couldn’t say a word. She was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen.

When I came down Kian gave me a big kiss.

‘You look wonderful Jenny.’

‘Thanks.’ I was trying to catch Bryan’s eye to see what he thought but he was looking the other way.

She’s Ki’s girlfriend, Bryan reminded himself when he saw the kiss. I shouldn’t be having these thoughts.

‘Why are you all hiding out here?’ Anna asked. ‘The party’s in there.’ Then she spotted Jenny. ‘Jen, you look marvellous. Have you met the others? Mark and Nicky’s in there with their girlfriends.’

Anna took Jenny’s arm and led her into the other room and the guys followed.

‘Marky.’ Anna said and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around.

‘This is Jenny, Kian’s girlfriend.’

‘Oh. Nice to meet you,’ he said and shook her hand. ‘This is my girlfriend Sandra.’

‘Hi Jenny,’ Sandra said. ‘We’ve heard so much about you.’

‘I hope it’s all good things,’ Jenny said.

‘This is Nicky and his girlfriend Georgina,’ Anna said after fetching them from the other side of the room.

‘Nicky and Georgina, this is Kian’s girlfriend Jenny.’

‘Don’t believe anything he’s told you about us, except the nice stuff of course,’ Nicky said with a glimmer in his eye.

‘I wont.’

‘Anna, can you come for a minute,’ Shane whispered in my ear.

‘Excuse me a minute, he can’t do anything by himself you know.’ I said menacingly.

'I want you right now,' Shane whispered in my ear as he lead me towards the bathroom.

'Why are we going to the bathroom?' I whispered back.

'Because all the rooms are taken.'

When we got to the bathroom was it also occupied.

'Shit!' Shane said between his teeth. 'I know.' He said with a smile on his face and pulled me into the nearest closet and shut the door behind us. Immediately he kissed me and started to unzip my dress. I stared to unbutton his shirt. It was very little space to move in and suddenly I accidentally touched the doorknob. The door flew open and Shane and I fell out with him on top of me with our clothes half off. We looked up and found everybody staring at us.

'Ups!' I said a little embarrassed.

Shane didn't seem to think it was embarrassing at all. He just helped me up after zipping my dress and started to button his shirt like noting had happened.

I started scanning the room for Jenny. I really needed to talk to her right now. When I couldn't see her anywhere I asked Mark if he had seen her.

'Yeah, she went out with Sandra a little while ago to get some fresh air. So you're wearing a black bra tonight, Anna?'

'Yes. I suppose I am,' I said and quickly walked away to try to find Jenny.
