chapter eleven When I woke up that morning Bryan was gone. I got up to take a shower when Anna came into the room. ‘Did you and Mark have fun last night? ‘I said teasingly. ‘Yeah’, Anna said with a big smile on her lips. Later that day I sat with Anna in a café opposite the hotel. We saw a mini van drive up to the hotel and out of the van came Bryan, Mark, Nicky, Kian and Shane and some guy we didn’t recognise. The guys weren’t exactly wearing work clothes but nice pants and black T-shirts. They talked for a while with the guy before he drove off. We got up and walked back to the hotel to find out just what those guys been hiding for us. When we came into the lobby the guys were there. We went out to them and told them to come with us to our room so we could have a talk. They looked strangely at each other… ‘Sure’, they said with one mouth. When we came into out room I asked what they really do during the days. ‘ I know you can’t be bricklayers because you’re always clean and nice dressed when you come back and claim to have been working’. They looked at each other but still hesitated. ‘Well, are you going to tell us what you do then?’ Anna said and looked at Mark. Mark didn’t want to lie anymore so he said: ‘We’re in a pop band called Westlife and we’re in Stockholm recording our first album.’ Our chins dropped to the floor. We knew the were doing something else but we never could have dreamed it would be something like this. ‘Why haven’t you told us earlier? Did you think we didn’t want to hang out with you if you were in a boyband or what?’ I asked. They once again looked at each other. How much should they really reveal for these girls who were sitting in front of them? Mark talked again. ‘It’s like this. We have promised that we would concentrate on recording the album…’ ‘So…?’ ‘So we’re not supposed to be seeing girls…’ The last words was barely hearable. ‘But Nicky has a girlfriend…’, Anna objected. ‘Why shouldn’t the rest of you be allowed to have that too?’ ‘You see, Nicky and Georgina were dating long before we formed as a group. They couldn’t really ask him to dump his girlfriend just because of the band, could they.’ Still it was only Mark who had spoken of the guys. After that last remark a silence spread across the room. Anna looked at Mark. What would this mean?, she thought. Will I have to give him up when I’ve just found him? She felt tears rising in her eyes. Mark saw the question in her eyes and then the tears. He got up and sat down beside her, putting his arm around her shoulders. He spoke again: ‘Guys, there’s something I’ve got to tell you, Anna and I are in love. And I won’t leave her just because our management say so. I think we deserve to be happy too.’ Anna looked at Shane. He looked funny, hurt but at the same time as if he’d got his suspicions affirmed. The other guys just looked surprised. Then Bryan too got up and sat down beside me. ‘I too have something to tell you’, he said putting his arm around me. ‘Jenny and I are also involved.’ The room went silence again. Everybody had the same question on their mind; where would we go from here. Then Kian spoke: ‘I think you’d better tell Louis about this, both of you. I mean what can he do, really? If you just stick up for yourselves I bet you that he’ll give in and leave you alone if you promise him to put work first even though you’re involved with somebody. And even he couldn’t resist these lovely girls if he met them’, he added in an attempt to lighten up the troubled faces around him. We went to talk to Louis and Kian had judged the man right. And the rest is history… Present day We were sitting in Bryan and Shane’s bedroom. Remembering our first encounter had brought up both nice and not so nice memories. But it all turned out well. I looked at Bryan. We still see each other from time to time but we’re not exactly dating. Not like Mark and Anna. Their love have just kept growing this year, she’s even gone to Ireland and stayed with him and his family a couple of weeks. ~ End ~ |
