who's who in the game of love

chapter three

'Sam is that you angel?' Granny called when she came home.

'Yeah.' Sam stopped.

'Can you come here for a minute?'

'What is it?' Sam asked coming into the room.

'One of those Dublin lads was here looking for you earlier.'

'Who? When?'

'It must have been an hour ago. What was his name again… Bryan, that's it.'

'What did he want?'

'He said to tell you to meet him at the pub at seven tonight. Is there something going on between you two?' Granny asked curiously. 'He seems like a very nice boy.'

'I don't know Granny, honestly I don't know,' Sam said and went up to her room.

What could he want? She thought. Maybe he's interested in me too? No, I shouldn't get my hopes up. I guess I'll find out tonight when we meet.

After work Cat went over to Shane's. I rang the doorbell. Shane answered it.

'Are you alone?' She asked.

'Yeah, come in.'

Shane and Cat couldn't keep their hands from each other, they started kissing and before they knew what had happened they lied in his bed. After while Cat said:

'I'd better go home now,' and got up to get her clothes together which were scattered all over the room. Shane pulled her back into bed.

'You won't get away that easy,' Shane said and laughed a little.

'Wanna bet?' Cat said and rolled over so she came on top him instead.

'Wow, you have worked out while you were in Sweden,' Shane said a little shocked.

Cat started laughing and gave him a kiss.

'I know someone, who won’t get that much sleep tonight if I don't go now,' she said flirty and got up to get dressed. Shane took her hand.

'Will you miss me while I'm gone?'

'Of course I will,' Cat said and looked a little funny at him.

'How much?' Shane said with a big smile on his lips.

'I'll miss you a lot,' Cat said and gave him a kiss.

'Kiss me again and we'll see if I believe you,' Shane said flirty.

We kissed again when we suddenly were interrupted.

'Shane, are you home!'

It was Shane's mum who came home and she didn't like it when her son had girls in his room, even if they were just friends. Shane and Cat panicked and started getting dressed as fast as they could. We heard Shane's mum getting closer and closer. Shane threw himself on the door and locked it.

'Shane, are you home?' she tried to open the door but found it locked.

'Shane, are you in there?'

'Yeah, I'll be right out.'

'What are you doing? Why did you lock the door when I came?'

'I'm just getting changed, mum. Slipping into something more comfortable.' Cat had to bit her lip not to laugh at that reply. He was comfortable all right.

'Hide, quickly!' he whispered to Cat.

Shane put on some track pants and a T-shirt and went out to his mother.

'How come you're home, mum? I thought you weren't coming until late.' He asked and then their voices died as they went down stairs.

After a couple of minutes Shane came up again.

'She's gone now so you can come out if you want.'

Cat came out from under the bed where she had been hiding.

'How come your mother came home now?'

'She was just getting some things that they had forgotten, plus she wanted to check in on me to see that I've packed and eaten and stuff like that. You know how mothers are.'

'Yeah I know. I'd better go now Shane, we don't want anyone else to come home and find us together do we.'

'I guess not, but I still don't want you to go.'

'Bye sweetie,' Cat said and gave him a kiss. 'Nice outfit by the way.'

'Yeah, yeah. Bye my little angel,' Shane said and gave her a kiss. He opened the door and let her out.

Meanwhile at the pub

'Hi, Bryan.'

Sam came up to him where he was sitting by him self. He got up and pulled a chair out for her.

'Hi, Sam. Nice of you to come.'

They talked for a while and had a very nice time together. They decided to go for a stroll in the night. They found a spot where they could be alone and sat down. They started kissing. After a while Bryan put his hand inside Sam's sweater.

'What are you doing?' Sam said and pulled away.

'I'm sorry, I guess I got a little carried away.' Bryan said and looked her deeply in the eyes. They started kissing again. After a while he was there again with his hand. Sam slapped him in the face.

'I thought I made myself clear,' she said as she got up then she ran away leaving a somewhat confused Bryan behind. When he'd got himself together he ran after her. He didn't have to run very far until he saw her standing by the road.

'Sam?' He said and approached her slowly. 'What's the matter? Why did you turn on me like that? I don't understand.'

Sam turned so she faced him. Tears were running down her cheeks. Bryan tried to take her in his arms but she slipped away.

'Bryan, you're such a sweet guy,' she began. 'I really like you…'

'But…'

'I don't know Bryan, I just don't know. I'm so sorry I slapped you. You didn't do anything wrong. I don't know why I did that, can you forgive me?'

In reality Sam actually knew what was making her react like she did. She'd just realised it when Bryan kissed her. She still loved Mark and kissing Bryan felt like betraying him. She had to find out if Mark still loved her before she could try to move on.

'Sure I can forgive you Sam, you know I can.'

'Do you think we can put this behind us and start over when you come back from London and then just see what happens?'

'I'd like that, I'd like that very much,' Bryan said. 'Shall I walk you home?'

Sam nodded and they started walking side by side back to Sam's house.
