BACK Horror in New York
By Cecilie

Chapter One
Thursday afternoon - I had just gotten off school, when my friend Kian, came by. The not-so-tall guy surprised me rather much, when he showed me some stupid horror movie he'd rented. "Gosh, Ki, haven't you got a life yet? Are you sure you wanna watch that film?" "Quinn - you bet I am! It's the Century's most freaky movie, and you, my friend, are gonna watch it too! I've invited the whole class over tonight, which includes you, Quinn Holland!" He flashed one of his famous smile, and grabbed my hand. "Come on, there's something I wanna show you..." We ran off, quite fast, and before I knew it, we were standing right outside the building where eight college-students had been killed seven years ago. Since I heard about it for the first time, it had always been playing on my mind.

"Almost scary, huh?" Kian let out a sigh, and pulled me closer. "Frightened, are we? Sorry... How come you never talked about Zandra after she died?" "I don't really know, Quinn. Might been the fact that I was afraid I was gonna cry... You know what I'm gonna do? Fuck my life - I'm going in!" He marched right towards the huge main door, and I just didn't know how to stop him. Talking wouldn't help - maybe God didn't want me to, 'cause I couldn't find one single way... Where was he? There hadn't been enough time for him to even reach the doorknob, and now he was just... gone. "Kian! Seriously, don't play me! You know how I hate your fucking stab-games! Kian, where are you?!" I screamed loudly. No response. I ran around the tower, desperately trying to find him, when sirenes from an ambulance got higher and higher.

I stood still for a while, just to find out where it stopped. It passed by the building, and I could still hear it a long while after. For a split second, I forgot everything about Kian. I went back to the road, and glanced towards the school. The ambulance was too far way for me to see it.

Quickly I turned around. I had a very bad feeling that someone was watching me. It wasn't Kian, if it was him, I'd know it.
"Okay, I know you're here, just come out!"
"BOOOHHHHH!" "ARRGHH! My fucking god, are you trying to give me a heartattack?" I screamed terrified. It was Shane, Kian's band-mate, not to mention best friend. "All right, I'm sorry, my bad, Quin..." "So, where did he go?" I asked, looking nervously around still having that feeling someone was able to see what I was doing.

"Who, Ki? He ran off, said he had some few homework to do... are you coming over tonight?"
"I'm afraid I've already made other plans... why don't you come by Ki's place, the entire class is coming... he rented a scary movie!" Shane gazed down at the ground, trying to act real disapointed. "But I'm not in your class!" I punched him softly, and laughed...

Chapter Two
"Oh my god, have you heard?!" I ran towards Kian and Shane, with tears streaming down my face. Both of them shook their heads. "Ranva's dead... she's really dead..." I fell to my knees, and hid my face in my hands. Quickly Shane bent down, and comforted me. "Quinn, I'm so sorry... When did she... you know...?" I sobbed a few times, and took a deep breath. "Last night... som guy came... into her house... in the middle... of the night... and stabbed her 27 times... oh my god, I don't know what to do, Shane..." He dragged me up from the filthy ground, and then the three of us went inside the school.

Luckily we were having the same subjects today, which I, of course, appreciated quite a lot as I still was in a state of shock. The next two hours, I probably wouldn't get to do any of my math... but on the other hand, I could just get Shane to help me after shcool.
"So, I guess you all found out that Ranva Rosenberg got - died last night! It's a terrible loss for the family, and also her friends." Mrs. Henderson said sadly, and picked up her book that was lying on the desk.

"Q, come on, please go home with me! Bry, Nick, Mark and Shane are gonna be there for you... remember that Ranva was also a very good friend of Mark! Don't you think it's nice to have someone to talk to about it?" Kian begged me to tag along, but all I really wanted to do was to... go home and watch a sad movie. I needed to cry, I needed Ranva back. I needed to hurt that bastard who killed her, so badly that he will never forget it! "You know, Ki... thanks for the offer, but no thanks. Call me later, all right?"
Then I ran off.

Later that night, my phone rang. Of course I thought it'd be Kian, but I couldn't be more wrong. "Hello?" "Hello, Quinn..." Silent.
"Don't mess with me, okay?! Who is this?!" "A nightmare from the past... Remember me, Quinn?"
And then the stranger hung up. Calmly I placed the phone back on the kitchen table, and started to lock every door and window. Was he back in the game? Had he killed Ranva? I wasn't sure, but I did know one thing... I needed to get out of this town, and it'd better go fast!

Chapter Three
As I told Kian what had happened the night before, he didn't quite believe me, although he and the rest of the gang, knew that I'd been through a time when some strange guy kept on stalking me... I couldn't help but wonder if he killed Ranva, not to mention my brother. Well, I did know that he was the reason why my brother died, but... no, he couldn't... if he had killed Ranva, then it would mean that he was out of jail...

"No, seriously! Bryan, stop joking around, okay?! This isn't the time to laugh! You know what?! Fuck you, Bryan! If you can't understand why this is so important to me, then get the fuck out of my house! I don't want you near me ever again!"
I hissed annoyed, but it was clear to the six of us, that I wasn't annoyed... I was sad.
"Quinn, relax, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you, man. Sorry, dude..." He whispered, and sat down again.
"Right, thank you! Look guys, I'm moving. I really need to the shit out of here, and just get going... what if he comes back for me? What if he's going to try to kill me again?"
"What the hell are you on about? The man's in jail, for God's sake!" Nicky yelled.
"No! He's not... I think... he called me last night... I only told Kian, 'cause I knew that you, Nicky - fucking - Byrne, wouldn't believe me! You think I'm a freaking lunatic, which I am not! Just because I'm not totally popular like you, doensn't have to mean that I'm not a human being... I know you don't want anything to do with me, but in this case, you have to..."
I cried loudly with tears streaming down my face.
Nicky looked down at the floor, and felt bad about what he had just said.

Later on, when it was just Kian, Mark, Shane and me back, my cellphone rang.
"Hello?" A heavy breathing was in the other end.
"Quinn... you're next..." The husky voice whispered, and then the phone was hung up.
I looked at the three blokes, and panicked inside.
"Q, where are you going?!" Mark yelled, as I headed towards the door, and ran out...

Chapter Four
Why was all this happening to me? Hadn't I gone through enough already?
Had Springer really been released from jail? And who had the answers I was looking for...?
"Q, what the hell are you doing? You can't just leave because of some guy!" I turned around, and yet again I faced, probably right at this point, the most annoying human being a person could ever meet. "He's not just some guy, okay?! He killed Jerry, and he killed Ranva too! Now he wants me, and that's why I need
to get the fuck out of this town! Perhaps I should leave the country!" I screamed loudly, and threw a pillow at Shane. He looked at me, and took a firm grip at my arm. I told him to let go, and when he didn't, I started to freak out. "Let go of me, you fuck! Let go!"
"Quinn, stop it, relax! Listen to me, you're going to be all right, I promise you! Nothing's gonna happen, I swear on my life..." I slumped down the wall, and cried like never before. The tears ran fast down my tearstained face, and my body shook so violent...

The same evening, Shane, Kian and the rest of the gang, came over to my house.
Something I hadn't quite planned, but a certain person named Nicky, had. It was rather wicked as he hadn't given a damn about me once in his life, and now he actually seemed to care. Or maybe he just pretended so he could get on national TV, if this whole thing actually got that far... it would be very much like him.
"Right, so we all agree that you are not leaving, whatsoever, have I made myself clear to you, Quinn?" Nicky said with a very serious voice. All I could do was to nod.
What had gotten into him...?
