Disillusionment
"Hey, what 'ya mean?" Allyson
was confused. Her so-called best friends were arguing about her.
"I am
phoning with Jen. We are fighting about who hates you the most..." Laura almost
threw those lines at her. Then she typed again and again: "We hate
you...hehe"
"We hate you...hehe"
"We hate you...hehe"
"We hate
you...hehe"
"We hate you...hehe"
"Cut it out, will ya?" This was getting
on Ally's nerves. She was really annoyed.
"Why? Why the hell should I stop
it? Why don't you stop?"
"stop what???" The 18-year old girl needed an
explanation. But the girl on the other line wasn't in the mood to explain her
rude behaviour.
"GTG, bye!" This was all. Laura logged off. Jenny stayed a
bit longer, but left without saying a word. What was on? Why were they so damn
hard and bad at her?
It seemed to Ally that they hadn't talked for ages.
She missed talking to her friends, especailly to Jen. They met in the Internet,
on a Westlife - Webpage at 'free your mind'. The two girls started out talking
for hours on the phone and writing long letters. Ally thought she could trust
them so she asked Shane if he'd like to mail with these girls. He was kinda
pleased because he always loved getting some feedback!
And now things had
changed. Jen and Laura were mailing with Shane and not to her anymore, the girl
felt like they had taken the piss out of her, just to get into contact with the
cute boy from Westlife.
Allyson was, one can describe it as a close
friend to the boys. They were together for about two years now, spending a lot
of time together on parties, but this was the first time she gave Shane's addy
to anyone. She thought she knew these girls especially Jenny, living in a
country far away from herself, but she trusted in their friendship. Jen didn't
tell about the conversations between Shane and herself (although Ally knew what
they were about...) but Laura considered Ally to be a liar, to be pretending to
be Shane. This was too much to take.
Ally wasn't so sure anymore if Jen had
ever been her friend, was she just pretending to be? Ally trusted in her and
told her everything, like how she got into contact with Westlife. This was one
thing she'd never forget. Her sister Kitty, her full name was Kathryn, was 28,
and two years ago, she had studied at Leeds. Her boyfriend Jack was a member of
Leeds United, in the same team like Nicky Byrne. These two boys were quite good
friends, so Kitty got in touch with Nicky. This was in the time before Westlife
started out. And as this big thing happened Nicky was still close to her. Even
after she broke up with Jack. Nicky and Georgina, his girlfriend, liked her very
much, so she decided to go there on holidays, together with her parents and
Allyson. The whole family was razy about horses, and Nicky told Kathryn that a
friend of his runs a stable. And as soon as Ally rode one of Shane's horses
Carlton Flight, the brown-eyed boy was content. She was nice and good to the
horses, and seemed to fit in from the first time he had seen her.
Ally
had a sleepover for about three weeks, because her mum required her husband to
rummage around for a nice house in the closer surrounding. She loved Ireland
from the very beginning and sought after having a holiday house in SLigo. A few
days later, with the help of Shane's mother and Gillian, Nicky's sister, her
daddy quickly found a very cute house, half an hour away from Sligo-town, close
to \bellina and Enniscrone. And the best about it was, that there was a wide
paddock in the backyard. So miss Martin agreed to Kittys and Allys plan to buy
some more horses. And 'cutie' Shane offered to guide them through the stables.
While bridling up Avimore, a Tinker-stallion, and Maverick, an unusual-coloured
Connemara-gelding, the two girls met Mark and Kian, who owned horses themselves,
and they started chatting up. The three guys showed them around and made them
feel really comfortable.
This evening Shane, Mark, Kian, Nicky, Kitty and
Allyson went out to a fancy club where they met Bryan, another fellow. Whilst
talking to the girls got to know that the boys were in a group named Westlife.
Aha, Ally never heard of them...but their first single 'Swear it again' shot
straight up to Number One in Ireland and Englnad. Kitty begged the boys to sing
something á capella and so they did.
"I'm never gonna say goodbye
Cos
I never wanna see you cry
I swore to you my love would remain
And I swear
it all over again and I
I'm never gonna treat you bad
Cos I never wanna
see you sad
I swore to share your joy and your pain
And I swear it all
over again"
Shane's voice was so soft and tender, and Ally firmly had to
wrestle to yank her gaze away from him, but as she did, she melted in Bryan's
blue-grey eyes. He smiled at her, obviously not knowing anything. Or was he just
pretending? Ally didn't care at that moment. She admired him on and on, not
realizing that Mark watched her, too.
Nicky swiftly piped up, he saw
Georgina, his girlfriend, coming. She was the daughter of Ireland's
premier-minister Bertie Ahern. She was very good-looking and very nice, too. The
girl with the long brown hair sat adjacent to her 'lover' and they were holding
hands. Ally smiled, she liked them, all and everyone of the group, she hoped
that this friendship would last for a long time.
And it did last, for now
two years they were in companionship, almost every holidays Ally and her family
spent over there. Shane was completely crazy about Irish coffee because it was
one of his brother's horses when the gelding was aged two. Then he had sold it,
because one of the best German racing-managers asked for it. But Shane wondered
that Ike was now with Ally, and she told him that her daddy, a close friend to
Gunther Perschke, the former owner of Irish Coffee, got the horse as a present.
The gelding was then about 10 years old and not that fast anymore. So this black
Irish thoroughbred was Ally's first own horse when she partied her 14th
birthday. But Ally never knew that it came from Shane's stables.
There
she sat, in front of her computer, still running the Internet, No new mails, no
mails to explain this strange behaviour. Two months ago she had surfed to 'Free
your mind' to find new pen pals, and she had luck! Two girls, Monica and
Georgina had an open ear to listen to her problems. As time went by, the three
of them got very close and trusted. Georgie and Monica, who owned a website,
were completely crazy about writing stories, just like Ally. But there were so
many similarities, more than Ally had in common with the other girls.
When
visiting a new site, Ally met Ingrid from Italy, her nickname was Sommariva, and
Shirley, whose nickname was Lil. These two girls had read some of her stories
and were pleased to finally meet her.
On this special day Ally used the
messenger to talk to Monica but met Laura instead.
"Oh no!" was the first
thing Laura said.
"Damn liar!" Laura fired her insults. "We don't believe you
anymore, you never met Westlife, you can't tell us that you're a friend of
them!!"
"Why..." Laura didn't let Ally finish.
"You are a so damn
liar...even Jenny thinks that way...why won't you admit your lies? You lied to
us from the very beginning on, now I wanna tell you something. I NEVER BELIEVED
YOU!!! This was all I ever wanted to say to you, but I wanted to give you the
chance to admit...you never met the guys...I know someone who asked them...And
guess, what they answered? 'Maxi? Never heard that name!!!"
"Admit what?
There's nothing I could admit, even if I wanted to! It's your problem if you
won't believe in what I say, but remember, you are talking yourself to Shane,
right?"
"And he is you, you are him...Even though I stopped talking with
him!"
"It's alike, I don't care, you don't need to believe, it's your
problem...by the way, why are you still talkin' to me???"
Allyson left. Why
must it be so damn hard? She was close to tears, when she heard the phone
ringing. She felt kinda puzzled and upset.
But now Monica wanted to
chat.
"Please, hun, wait a minute, I'll be right back, the phone is buzzing!"
She typed it in so fast, she was kinda suprised not to find any mistakes in her
lines.
Allyson ran and answered the phone buzzing and ringing loudly.
