Chapter 12

He grabbed the keys to his car and went outside to the garage. He typed in the code to open the garage door, got into his black BMW Convertible and put the key in the ignition. He started the engine and leaned back into his seat. He sighed then put his foot on the accelerator and released the handbrake with a shaky hand. He travelled to the M40 and continued North, tears coming to his eyes. He moved into the outside lane and proceeded up to 95mph.

‘You said goodbye
I fell apart
I fell from all we had
To I never knew
I needed you so bad
You need to let things go
I know, you told me so
I’ve been through hell
To break the spell
Why did I ever let you slip away
Can’t stand another day without you
Without the feeling I once knew

I cry silently
I cry inside of me
I cry hopelessly
‘cause I know I’ll never, breathe your love again
I cry, ‘cause your not here with me I cry, ‘cause I’m lonely as can be
I cry hopelessly
‘cause I know I’ll never breath your love again

If you could see me now
You would know just how
How hard I try
Not to wonder why
I wish I could believe in something new
Oh, please somebody tell me it’s not true
(oh girl) I’ll never be over you
why did I ever let you slip away
Can’t stand another day without you
Without the feeling I once knew
Without the feeling, I once knew

I cry silently
I cry inside of me
I cry hopelessly
‘cause I know I’ll never, breathe your love again
I cry, ‘cause your not here with me I cry, ‘cause I’m lonely as can be
I cry hopelessly
‘cause I know I’ll never breath your love again

If I could have you back tomorrow
If I could lose the pain and sorrow
I would do just anything
To make you see, you still love me
I cry silently
I cry inside of me
I cry hopelessly
‘cause I know I’ll never, breathe your love again
I cry, ‘cause your not here with me I cry, ‘cause I’m lonely as can be
I cry hopelessly
‘cause I know I’ll never breath your love again’

After an hour he got off the M40 near Oxford and went across the road, back onto the M40 south. The cold wind was blowing him about and he began shaking uncontrollably. He put his foot on the accelerator and picked up speed. 90mph, 92mph, 95mph, 96mph, 99mph, 101mph. He didn’t care how fast he was going. He didn’t notice the other cars as they were whizzing by. He was near London again when a car came up next to him and pushed him towards the central reservation. He was being pushed closer and closer to it. The car wouldn’t give up but He refused to slow down. The BMW ran along the central reservation and an awful grinding sound could be heard. The car sped off and he looked round for it. He wasn’t watching what he was doing and nearly hit a car coming up in front of him. He braked quickly and ended up skidding across the carriageway and into a field. He bumped his head on the steering wheel but it wasn’t hurting him. What hurt most was his heart. He restarted the car and drove to London.
