West Marshall FFA Chapter Constitution |
|
|
|
Article I. |
|
|
The name of this organization shall be the West Marshall FFA Chapter of the Iowa FFA Association: and is chartered as a local unit of the Iowa Association of the FFA, which is chartered by the National FFA Organization. |
|
|
|
Article II. Officers |
|
|
Section A. The officers of the West Marshall FFA Chapter shall be as follows: (1) President, (2) Vice President, (3) Secretary, (4) Reporter, (5) Treasurer, and (6) Sentinel. |
|
|
Section B. The officers of the chapter and the committee chair people shall constitute the Chapter?s Executive Committee. This committee shall have full power to act as necessary for the chapter in accordance with actions taken at chapter meetings and other various regulations and by-laws adopted. |
|
|
Section C. The duties of the officers shall be those common to the respective offices as found in the Official Manual. |
|
|
Section E. One or two members shall be selected by the chapter nominating committee for each chapter office being elected. |
|
|
Section D. A nominating committee shall study the qualifications of candidates under consideration for chapter office and report to all members. In order to be considered for an office, each candidate must fill out a West Marshall FFA Chapter Officer Application. |
|
|
Section F. Each member elected must be elected by the majority vote of the membership. |
|
|
Section G. The election will be held during the April Chapter Meeting. |
|
|
Section H. A person who loses an election may drop to the next officer election if they desire. |
|
|
Section I. Officers will begin their duties at the next meeting following the end of elections. |
|
|
Section J. Officers may be relieved of duties by a two-thirds majority vote of the membership. |
|
|
Section K. Vacancies that naturally result will be filled by the Executive Committee appointing a member to fill the vacancy. |
|
|
Section L. Honorary members shall not vote, nor shall they hold office in the chapter except that of advisor. |
|
|
|
Article III. Program of Activities |
|
|
Section A. At the opening of each school year, there shall be ready for use a plan of action for the following twelve months which has been developed by the officers and members of the Executive Committee and approved by the chapter membership and the State Executive Secretary. |
|
|
Section B. The annual plan shall include the projects and activities to be undertaken by the chapter during the year, the ways and means of meeting these objectives along with goals. A budget will be prepared by the Treasurer and officers, and presented to the chapter during the September chapter meeting. |
|
|
Section C. The secretary shall fill out and post a calendar to chronologically list activities. |
|
|
|
Article IV. Membership |
|
|
Section A. Membership in the West Marshall FFA Chapter shall consist of the following: (1) Chapter FFA Degree, (2) Greenhand Degree, (3) Honorary Chapter Degree, and (4) Alumni, as defined by the National FFA Constitution. |
|
|
Section B. The regular work shall be carried out by its active membership. |
|
|
Section C. Active members in good standing may vote on all business brought before the chapter. Members shall be considered in good standing when the following has occurred: |
|
|
|
(1) A member has attended 90% of the regularly scheduled meetings. |
|
|
a. Members that are absent may be excused if a proper excuse signed by a parent or guardian is brought to the chapter Secretary within 5 days after the meeting was held. |
|
|
|
b. Any officer missing more than 1 (one) meeting will be removed immediately without the normal required two-thirds vote for dismissal. His/her replacement will be selected by the Executive Council. |
|
|
|
(2) A member who has paid the required dues as set by the Executive Council. |
|
|
Section D. A member who has not attended 90% of all meetings and at least 50% of all chapter activities will not be able to represent the West Marshall FFA Chapter above the local level unless actively participating in an FFA contest. Any member not in good standing may not attend any FFA activity above the local level until they have re-attained their good standing status by repaying their dues. |
|
|
|
Article V. Meetings |
|
|
|
Section A. Regular monthly meetings shall be held the first Friday of each month. The meeting will be prior to the start of school (7:30 a.m.). |
|
|
|
Section B. Special meetings may be called by the President at his/her own volition, on the advice of the Executive Committee, or upon the request of ten members at the consent of the advisor. |
|
|
|
Section C. Executive Council meetings will be scheduled by the Executive Council. Executive Council meetings will be held no less than three days prior to a chapter meeting to develop an agenda. |
|
|
|
Article VI. Good Conduct Policy |
|
|
Section A. 1st Offense: |
|
|
5 week suspension from all local activities including regular schedule meetings, elementors/storytellers, recreation activities, and any other scheduled activities. 12 month suspension from all activities at National and State level competition. |
|
|
2nd Offense: |
|
|
10 week suspension from all local activities including regular schedule meetings, elementors/storytellers, recreation activities, and any other scheduled activities. 18 month suspension from all activities at National and State level competition. |
|
|
3rd Offense: |
|
|
Banned for life from all FFA Activities sponsored by the FFA Organization |
