The St. Louis Rams (12-5) season ended in a heartbeaking double-overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers (13-5). The Rams gave it all they have, but the Panthers gave just a bit more. It was a very close game. The Rams were down 23-10 with around 5 minutes to go, they scored a TD on a Faulk 1 yard run with 2:39 to go. Then on the onside kick, kicker Jeff Wilkins recovered the bouncing ball to give the Rams the ball back. Then the Rams got into the red zone but the usual "Mad Mike" turned to conservative mode and decided to let the clock run down and kick the tying FG. It was a very conterversial decision. One that might have costed them the game, no one knows. Then after 2 missed FG's, one from each team it went to 2nd OT and on the 1st play, 3rd and 15, Carolina reciever Steve Smith made a 69-yard catch and run play into the endzone. Everyone gave it their all but the Rams just can't stop thinking about the one that got away. Speaking on behalf of all Rams fans I would like to thank the Rams for a great season andf next year it'll be: St. Louis Rams 2005 Superbowl Champs! -Patriots 2004 Superbowl Champs, W: 32-29 vs Carolina |
