RAY NITTA
has been obsessed with wood for nearly 20 years
His westside woodworks studio in the erstwhile old Kekaha
post office is an open-air place where talk-story mixes with the daily
woodwork projects
I like the challenge of seeing something in my minds eye and then executing it in wood to make the fantasy and reality come together
Besides wood I like to make works out of paper, stone, ceramics, plastic, metal and whatever else I can find to accomplish the particular piece I envision
"Why do i do it?"
I think its the same incessant creative need that stirs in everyone's
soul
To make something, to create, build, construct, wrench, rip out
of the depth of ones being that which needs to be out
There is an old saying
"I too will something make and joy in the making"
It fits me
what I do
