Wollombi Festival...

Welcome to Wollombi.  There's nothing to the town really, but it IS in the middle of nowhere.  This specific bit of nowhere took us about an hour to find.  yay for random festivals in the bush...

I think this is the welcoming committee - it was at the admissions tent anyway. i want one for my room...mom, christmas present??  c'mon, grandma could make one!

Look familiar?  yeah, she played at the Circus too.  She was also my ride, the fabulous Anousha Victoire.  Thanks for the lift and the fantastic show! Gill came too and together we rocked the hackey sack.  for some reason i don't have a picture of her even though i remember taking one.  She made my whole day. In this tent 'o talent they also had yummy pizza and i took more pictures of other people, but they weren't good (the pictures, not the people), so you can't see them (the pictures and the people).  There was a didgeridoo involved, and a 20-odd person choir did a cover of a Beck song, armed with nothing but an egg shaker. booya.

How cute is she?  This little one twirled her way to every stage.  i know because i saw her at every stage and she was twirling.  behind her is a bluesy band, ah yeah. There were more dancers as the day went on, but since they were older and, uhm, weirder, i didn't take their pictures.  it was one of those you-had-to-be-there things anyway i guess.

Total Fire Ban?! The conditions were ripe for bush fires... But the party went on.

Once night fell tons of people showed up, including this group of Aboriginals.  we all watched their dances, and (yes) they lit a few fires.  The most amazing part of this whole night was the stars - I saw the Milky Way for the first time tonight...and satellites, too!  yay!
