THE MOUSEMOON CIRCUS Mousemoon is the name of a band here in newie - they are very very very good.  So, out of their goodness they organized this, the Circus.  It took place at the Cambridge Hotel on Saturday, September 21, 2002 from 2PM until 5AM.  I attended from 4:30PM until 3AM, and the lack of sleep was well worth it...as you are about to see.

On stage here is Anousha Victoire.  I met her at the band competition the first time i ever went to the Bar on the Hill at skool.  She does a lot of folky stuff, and performs everywhere in the Sydney/Newcastle area.  Accompanying her off-stage is Roy.  I saw him on our trek to the Circus (a nice 1/2 hour walk).  But when we saw him he was playing to a woman sitting on a bus stop bench.  She looked a  bit uncomfortable.  Anyway, he found his way to the Circus like we did, and decided to hit it up with Anousha.  Made a few requests...told her she was playing wrong.  Then he jammed on the harmonica and they got him a mike. I think he did the same thing to the next performer...but the next guy wasn't as, uhm, patient.

Enter Jay, the fun loving pixie who ditched her wings to help me challenge Amber and Dave to a game of pool.  Standing behind her looks like someone's mom with a big mom purse.  Anyway, her fairy dust didn't help us win, which sucked because I'd been playing so well the night before...ah well.  Oh, if you check out the "Around Newie" page, she's one of the people behind the wonderful, superduper Salar Cafe.  That place makes me so happy.

This is a Rubicks Cube with a mission.  It's name is Cubey, and it's the mascot for the band Rubicks Cuba.  Cubey's mission this evening was to defeat all childhood icons.  Lined up to fight Cubey was the Easter bunny, and supposedly Santa and the Tooth Fairy.  Unfortunately no other fights took place while I was around, and this one never finished due to the interrupting bout of Jell-O fighting that happened.  Just hold on to your keester, I'm getting to that part...

JELLO WRASTLIN' The fight was on...Nina (the Cavewoman, aka Pebbles) versus Emma (I think...the one in the camo bikini).  All you need for successful Jelly Wrestling (because Jelly = JellO) is one kiddie pool and about 100 boxes of jelly... if you were wondering, pineapple flavoured.

Of course that's not all...afterwards Amber and I SOMEHOW ended up in the middle of the pool (Dave did it), and once your in there's no point fighting it...so...yeah, that stuff smelled pretty rank and stayed with us the rest of the night.  This was about 8:00, so i had a good 7 more hours of sticky wonder to endure.  Plus I ended up crashing with a bunch of people at Nina's GINORMOUS house, so that sticky stayed until we woke up and went to the beach...around 10 am the next day.  EW.

Dreamy B&W Stage photo.  I don't know which band was setting up here, but you kind of get a feel for the place.  It was so amazing.  Definitely one of the coolest things I've ever been to.  Plus I saw heaps of people I've met throughout the semester so far and that made me feel, like, totally popular! Rock Stars are cool.  There was TONS and TONS of music on 4 different stages both inside and outside.  They also had Acrobats, Fire Throwers, a Goth Fashion Show, and i don't know what else because i'm only one person!  ahh! anyway, yeah...fun.

Absolutely no party is complete without sparklers...right?  right.
