1988 Plymouth Sundance RS.  Owned by my brother.
Car was purchased with a bad turbo.  We removed the Mitsu and installed a converted Garrett.
If the hood looks funny to you, this picture was taken the day after the accident.
On April 5, 2003, my brother, my wife, and I went bowling.  Afterwards, we decided to make one pass around the local cruising strip.  My wife and I were in the '85 Daytona following my brother.  We pulled into a left turn lane at the far end of the strip.  My brother was the front car in the lane at the red light.  When the light turned, for some reason, he assumed that it would be a turn arrow.  Regretfully it was not.  As he pulled into oncoming traffic, a Dakota R/T hit him travelling approximately 50 mph.  As I watched in fright, both vehicles came to rest off the main drag near the frontage road.
The car actually held up rather well under the circumstances.  The roof is seriously buckled, the firewall is bowed.  The front right crunch zone did its job well.  The dash is moved to the drivers side about an inch.  Luckily, my brother was wearing a seat belt and was not carrying a passenger at the time.

Notice that the sunroof stayed in place and it did not break!!
More prominant picture showing how the roof buckled.
The motor is currently an unkown.  It appears to be in perfect shape and unscathed.  It is moved several inches to the driver's side.  The pass. side mount is bent, but does not appear to be any block or head damage.  The tranny mount is still bolted to the transmission case, but the transmission case is no longer part of the tranny!!  The aluminum case broke.  I imagine the pass. side axle did some damage to the differential also.  We removed a few items prior to this shot (air box, etc) and hopefully we will transplant the motor into his next car.
One regret is the shocks and struts are only 2 weeks old and the alignement was only 12 hours old!!  Two shocks and one strut can be salveaged, though.
It only took a lapse of judgement of less than one second to lose this car.  Please drive safely.  And always wear your seatbelt.  He had the wind knocked out of him and some bruises on his chest.  Without the belt, he would probalby have been into or through the passenger window and definitely in the hospital if not worse.  Buckle up!!
