| Katina was captured in Iceland in October 1978. She resides at SeaWorld Orlando and is the dominant killer whale there. Katina became the first captive killer whale to give succesful birth with her calf Kalina in 1985. She has since had two more calves, Taku and Ikaika- both are males. According to SeaWorld trainers, Katina is very involved in everything that goes on around her. She performs in most of the shows and is a very good-natured orca. She is also known as Kandu 6. Katina is 18 feet long and weighs in at 5,500 lbs. |
