I know that this is only a small list of all the characters on Degrassi TNG, but I am not going to talk about them all. I am only going to talk about the characters that have a part in this page.

Main Characters On My Site...

Gavin "Spinner" Mason       Spinner is one of the main characters of Degrassi TNG. He has been with the cast since season one and have had numerous storylines developing his character over the five year run of the show. Spinner started out as a ditz. He was the class clown who always got into

trouble. By season two he had established himself has a school bully, always teasing the younger kids. By season four he was a rebel, someone you wouldn't want to mess with. At this point he had stolen an IPod and even teased a student to the point that the guy brought a gun to school and shot a student (who Spinner had blamed the teasing on) and then shot himself. Because of this Spinner was expelled from school. Season five, when a new principal took over at Degrassi, Spinner was allowed to return, but at this point he had missed most of the previous year and was now held back a grade. When returning to school, Spinner met a girl named Darcy. She started treating him nice after all of his other friends had turned their backs on him because of the shooting. This lead to Spinner liking her and the two eventually dating. Darcy, on the other hand, was a member of "Friendship Club" and later convinced Spinner to join. Finally, Spinner joins and gets saved. He is now a Christian and no longer the school bully... or is he?

Darcy Edwards      Darcy joined the cast of Degrassi TNG in season four. At first she was a bit of a diva, always in a cat fight with someone. Her character was never developed in season four however, she was mainly an extra. Somewhere between seasons four and five Darcy gets

involved with "Friendship Club." She is a year younger than Spinner, and when Spinner returns to school a grade behind, she makes friends with him. She starts helping him with his homework and later invites him to "Friendship Club." Darcy is the one who leads Spinner to his Christianity. By this time Darcy is no longer the diva she was and is a more down to earth girl. That is until she finds out about Spinners past and his relationship with Manny.

Linus       Linus first appeared in season five. He never joined the cast of Degrassi TNG and after only a couple of episodes his character faded away. Although his character was never developed (his last name isn't even mentioned), he plays an important part in this

site. Linus is the leader of "Friendship Club" and the one who rallies the people to protest Marco's safe sex seminar. Spinner later stops being friends with him because of his extreme ways.

Marco Del Rossi      Marco joined the cast of Degrassi TNG at the start of season two. His main storyline at first was his confusion. He started dating Ellie, his best friend, to see if he could figure out whether or not he was gay. Eventually Ellie was sick of the charade and broke up

with him early season three. Later in the season Marco gets beaten up by gay bashers downtown and gets scared. He is afraid of who he is and tries to hide it. Also, Marco's family is Italian and very strong Catholics. Marco has a big fear of his father finding out because his father is very homophobic. Marco later meets Dylan in season three. They become friends and later, they become something more. Eventually they break up, Dylan  is angry with Marco because he won't come out to his parents. Marco gets depressed and his mother ends up finding out, but he dares not to tell his father. Season five brings along a new boyfriend for Marco, Tim. Tim is shy but Marco convinces him to come out. When Tim comes out to his parents his parents are upset and kick him out. Marco feels like a hypocrite because he convinced Tim to do the one thing he hasn't, to come out to his father. Marco invites Tim to stay with his family while his parents cool down but Mr. Del Rossi refuses saying "I do not want a queer under my roof." Marco's reply, "What if you already have one?" Hazel Aden       Hazel first joins the cast of Degrassi TNG in season one, however she is only in two episodes. She later becomes a main character in season two. Hazel is a cheerleader, and like most stereotypes, she lives the life

of a diva. Hazel is a Muslim who struggles with her identity. She thinks she will be considered a terrorist if she tells what she really is and so she keeps her Religion a secret from her friends and classmates. She even teases another Muslim classmate, Fareeza, for wearing a hijab (Muslim Head Dress). Was that a smart thing to do?

Minor Characters On This Site...

Manuella "Manny" Santos      Manny was one of the first characters to be introduced on Degrassi TNG. Issues: The issues I will look at concerning Manny will be her abortion and her passion for fame.

Emma Nelson       Emma first appeared in Degrassi Junior High as Spike's baby. The Next Generation was based around the fact that Spike, from Degrassi Junior High, had a baby. TNG came about when the creator of the old

series thought it was around the time that Spike's baby would be entering Junior High and so decided to revive the series. Spike (Christine) from the old series appears on The Next Generation from time to time but the series was created to follow the lives of her daughter and her daughter's classmates as they grow, just as the old series followed her and her classmates. Issues: The issues I will look at concerning Emma is her unsafe, premarital sex and her anorexic/bulimic stage.

Ellie Nash       Ellie joined the cast of Degrassi TNG in season two. She is the dark goth girl who never fit in with the Spirit Squad. Issues: The issues I will look at concerning Ellie is her gothic ways, her cutting (self injury) and her atheism.

Liberty Van Zandt       Liberty first appeared in the first season. She was the smartest kid in her grade and also had a huge crush on J.T York. Later in the series, when she and JT hook up, things start to go wrong.

Issues: The Issues I will look at concerning Liberty is the lies that were spread about her and ruining the reputations of others, and also her premarital sex and pregnancy.

Paige Michalchuk       Paige is another one of the few that started out Degrassi TNG in the very first season. Her character is one of the most well developed on the show. She goes from high and mighty Paige, the one

everybody wants to be like, to the Paige that gets raped by an older guy and feels like there's no where else to turn. Paige goes from being the girl who everyone hates to being the girl everyone has pity for. Issues: The issues I will look at concerning Paige is her rape story and her transformation from a evil cheerleader to an innocent one.
