On a sunny afternoon, as I was toiling under the hot summer sun, I decided to rest under one of the large Vallenwood trees in Solace. There, as I rested my back against the wide trunk of the tree, my eyelids grew heavy, and with the sounds of birds churping in my ear, I fell asleep.
I awoke, startled, cursing the racket that had disturbed my slumber. As I scanned around, expecting to see an army of knights marching under the Vallenwoods, I saw a single merchant cart, excessively decorated with bright colors, pulled by a single steed. As my red eyes squinted in the sun, I realized that the short figure sitting at the helm of the cart was a kender! Quickly recalling to mind words of Magic to obliterate this menace from the face of Ansalon, my thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a lighthearted male voice. Opening my eyes, I found the same kender standing next to me, his arm extended straight in front of him, his hand only inches from my snout,

"Hullo! I'm Brim Happytrailz! You're in the conclave aren't you?" Brim looked intently at my robes, "And a black robe too! Didn't know they accepted Draco's in the conclave!" Brim frowns for a second, "Are you sure you're really in the conclave?"
Quickly ensuring that my spell pouches were intact and magically sealed against the hands of the prying kender, I jumped up and away from the small creature, in the process pushing away the kender's hand that was originally extended for the purpose of a handshake, and had found its way into the folds of my robe. I growled, "How dare you disturb my sleep you little thief?!"
"Well that isn't a very nice thing to say!" Brim said, looking truly hurt. "You know, I used to know a draco once.. He wasn't very nice either! I still remember him running after me, calling me a thief, of all things, when I had only seen him once before! I remember cause it was around the same time I found this beautiful silver ring.." Brim rummaged through his bulging pouches and packs, spilling onto the floor maps, empty parchment, glasses, and a few coins in the process. As Brim continued his search for the ring inside his pouches, and as I contemplated the many ways in which I would destroy this creature, an item on the ground caught my attention. Picking it up to examine it, I realized that it fit the description of a rare belt pack that I had previously heard of. Hiding the pack inside one of the secret pockets of my robe, intending to further examine it at a later date, I pretended to pay attention to the kender's endeavours.

"Ah-ha! Here it is!" Brim exclaimed, producing a silver ring from one his back pouches. Identifying the ring as an ordinary ring of no interest to me, I quickly patted the kender on the head, and making an excuse of having to attend an urgent meeting, quickly walked away while Brim continued his story of how this magical silver ring had saved him once from the firebreath of an ancient green dragon.
It was only after rounding the nearest corner, that I realized to my increasing frustration that I was missing a pouch full of 100 gold coins..

P.S. This story starts off exactly where the other one left off. hehe..

I quickly turned on my heels to face the kender thief and retrieve my pouch of gold coins, however, just as I re-rounded the corner, I stopped in my tracks as I saw the kender engaged in a conversation with a knight of Solamnia. Disappearing into the shadows, and casting a spell of invisibility to camouflage myself, I moved closer to the kender and knight to eavesdrop on their conversation.
"... almost always get lost in the streets of New Thalos! You wouldn't happen to have a map of that city would you, Master Brim?"
I raised my eyebrows in exclamation.. "Master Brim?" I uttered to myself, "It seems there is much more to this Kender than meets the eye.."
"Well, you're just in luck! I'm sure I have a map here somewhere." Brim brought forth a pouch full of rolled up maps of every shape and size. "Let's see." Brim started extracting rolls and rolls of maps from his pouch, quickly examining each one. "Oh! Balinesti! This brings back fond memories.." "Eh-hem" The knight coughed politely to bring back the attention of the now day-dreaming kender. "Oh I'm sorry! What is it that you were looking for again? Neraka?" Brim smiled at the knight "No." said the knight with what appeared to me to be infinite patience, "New Thalos, Master Brim.." "Ahh, yes! Of course.. Here you go!" The kender withdrew a small rolled up parchment from one of the side-pockets in his bulging pouch, and proudly gave it to the knight. Bowing in the old fashioned courtesy of the knights of solamnia, the knight heartily thanked the kender, paid him with a pouch of coins, and walked away.

Curiousity eating away at me, I decided to remain concealed and followed the kender down the road under the Vallenwoods, keeping to the shadows at all times. The kender's cart finally came to a stop under the Inn of the Last Home, and after tying his steed to a barrel of water, the kender made his way up the long staircase to the Inn of the Last Home. After waiting until the kender had disappeared out of sight, I emerged from the shadows to take a closer look at this mysterious kender's merchant cart. Endless pouches bulging with almost every type of item on Krynn filled the cart. Saying words of magic, many of the rings within the pouches began to softly glow, declaring their arcane nature. As frustrating as it was to find magical items in the hands of this careless kender, it was no surprise to me that this thief had stolen magical rings from his uncunning victims. What surprised me, however, was what seemed like a patch in the floor of the cart glowing red. Adjusting my eyesight, I quickly recognized the patch to be an invisible pouch resting on the floor of the cart. "Now how in the name of Nuitari did this kender find an invisible pack?!!"
Before I had time to contemplate the matter further, I heard a soft woman's voice call from above the Vallenwoods, "See you later Brim! Come back soon!"
Without another thought, I grabbed the invisible pouch, turned myself invisible, and flew into the shadows of the trees. Brim appeared walking down the staircase. He affectionally pat his steed and climbed up on his cart. Waiting long enough to make sure the Kender did not notice the pouch was missing, I finally sat down to continue my rest against a large Vallenwood as the cart made its way down the dirt path leading away from Solace.
Hope you enjoyed it! Urtak.
