Penny Smith's Guide to Magic:
The Zig Zag Girl

The screen cut to Penny, dressed in black jogging pants, a black sports bra and black pumps, leaving her mid-riff bare. She was stood beside David, just in front of a tall cloth covered object.
"So, David, what have you got for me today?" David grabbed the cloth and pulled it away, revealing the illusion. A familiar black & red cabinet, with a stylised female figure on the front. Penny grinned. "I recognise that one! The zig zag girl." David nodded, and the screen cut to black and white video.
"Today we're looking at a classic from the 1960's, invented by American magician Robert Harbin. This is Harbin himself performing the illusion. It's a testament to just how impressive it was that this illusion is still a mainstay of magic today." The screen cut back to Penny and David, one either side of the box. "So, Penny, ready to become a zig zag girl?" She smiled, and David opened the front of the box. Penny went to climb inside, but he stopped her. "Hang on!" Penny followed his gesture down to her feet. "You need to slip off your shoes."
Penny looked bemused. "I'm just glad that the budget ran to a pedicure!" She slipped off her black pumps, and then stepped bare footed up into the black interior. She twisted to face the camera, and smiled.
"Okay, here we go!" David swung the bottom door closed, hiding Penny to the mid-thigh. "Now push your toes through this cut-out here." Penny peered down over the door, and wiggled her exposed toes. "And just to prove that these are real..." He bent down, and raked his fingers across Penny's sole, drawing a shriek from the blonde.
"HEY!"
"Well, they're real." David straightened up, and swung the second door shut. "Your right hand goes through this cut-out here...great!" Penny wiggled her fingers, and David pulled a red silk from his breast pocket, and placed it into her fingers. "Keeping waving that!" he said, and swung the final door across, hiding Penny's torso and head from view.
"I think I know what to do now." said Penny, pushing her left hand and face through the last two cut-outs.
"Perfect!" David took hold of the cabinet, and began to rotate it, showing the camera all sides - emphasising Penny's foot, hands, and face as 3-dimesional features completing the stylised figure on the front. "So, we have a girl. But this trick is called the zig-zag girl. I guess we better add the zig-zig" He took hold of the side of the middle box, and began to push. The box moved about two inches to the side, but then stopped, obviously pressing against the side of Penny's body. "Well, that's not going any further." David reached across the front, and opened a small door in the centre of the displaced middle box, exposing Penny's bare midriff. "I think I see the problem."
"Problem? Hey, that's no way to talk about my tummy!" Penny looked at him quizzically. "What happens next?"
"Next, you're going to get all cut up!"He reached aside, picked up the first blade, and held it up to the light. Penny gasped.
"What are you going to do with that?"
"Well, if I can't slide the box past your stomach, I guess I'll have to slide part of you with it." David lined the blade up with the slot at the top of the middle box. "Of course, that will mean taking a slice out of you." He placed the blade in, and pressed it against Penny.
"Oh! That's cold!"
"I haven't started pushing yet!" Then he started. Mouth and eyes wide, Penny gasped as the blade slid smoothy into the box. With a click, the blade locked into place against the front of the box. Penny blinked a few times.
"Wow!" David grinned, and waved his hand in front of Penny's face.
"Still okay in there?" She nodded.
"I think so."
"Just one more to go!" David picked up the second blade, let the light flash off it, and then placed it into the second slot.
"Ooo!" Penny gasped again. "Don't you have any warm blades?"
"It'll all be over in just a second..." With a jerk, he drove the blade home. "There! All done. Still okay?"
Wiggling her fingers and toes, Penny grinned. "I think so. This is a little weird though."
"Well, it's about to get stranger. Like I said, the whole point was to turn you into a zig zag girl, and you're still missing the zig zag." Grinning, he took hold of the middle box again. "But don't worry, I can soon fix that!" As David slowly began to push, the centre slice of the box began to move to the side, Penny's hand still waving the red silk.
"Oh!" gasped Penny, open mouthed and wide eyed.
"Nearly there!" David continued to push, as the slice past the halfway mark, taking Penny's waving hand with it. The lady herself was staring down in amazement. Finally, the slice reached the far side and locked into place with a click. David reached up to hold Penny's hand. "Well, this one's real." Penny waved the silk held in the other hand. "And I guess that one is too. Still, one sure way to check!" Moving around the back of the cabinet, David waved through the gap left in the box - and in Penny. Then he moved the rest of the way around, to stand beside the displaced segment of the box, and reached around to the front. "And just to prove that you're in there..." He opened the little door, to reveal Penny's bare mid-riff. "And what have we here?"
"Don't you dare!", squealed Penny, as David raked his fingers across her tummy. She rapidly descended into giggles, and David grabbed hold of the cabinet and slow spun it around, again emphasising Penny's face, hands and feet as 3-D features completing the stylised figure on the front of the cabinet. Grinning, David stood aside, as Penny smiled and waved at the camera.
"Well, I think you make a wonderful Zig Zag Girl, Penny, but I should probably put you back…"
Without waiting for an answer, he began to slide the middle slice back into the box. Peering down, Penny followed it's progress anxiously, looking up at the camera with a nervous expression on her face. Seeing her concern, David smiled.
"Nothing to worry about!" As he said that, the box clicked back into place, and he quickly drew out first the top blade, and then the second, drawing soft moans from the girl inside the box. With the box and Penny restored, the magician unlatched the doors, and swung them open. Taking his hand, Penny stepped out, and struck a pose, grinning broadly.
"All okay?" asked David, looking down at her bare stomach. Following his gaze, Penny ran her hand across her navel and giggled. "And that's the Zig Zag Girl!"

The screen cut back to the studio, the Eamonn and Fiona clapped.
