Warren Heights Engine Company 3 is located at 4256 Elm Road NE. The city's northeast side fire station, it is newest station in the department constructed in 1987. This station was closed in 1989 along with the city's other houses in a budget crisis. This station re-opened in 1995. Housed here is Engine Company 3 along with the maintenance shop and dispatch center. Engine 3 is a 1991 Pierce Arrow that was purchased originally as Engine 1 at the same time Ladder 1 was bought. Engine 3 is equipped with a 54' articulating squrt. This piece of apparatus is normally second due to all downtown alarms. Engine 3 is staffed with 1 Leiutenant, and 2 Firefighter/Medics. Engine 3 is now the city's second paramedic engine. The truck is now equipped with a LifePak 12 cardiac monitor, IV Kit, ALS drug box, and an advanced airway management kit. The Bureau of Fire's Maintenance Division is also housed at Station 3. Engineer Eric Ritz is in charge of all apparatus maintenance within his scope of training. All new engines and ladders that are purchased by Warren Heights replace the downtown units, and those units replace older trucks in the fleet. On some occasions, reserve pieces are put into service temporarily to keep them running properly. The Bureau of Fire's dispatching center is also located at Station 3 and is equipped with enhanced 9-1-1 in a state of the art dispatching facility. The city normally has at least one fire and one emergency medical dispatcher on duty at all times. This system is in the process of upgrades due to the Bureau of Fire starting to run with paramedic engine companies. |
