This is Cynamon Spyce She will be one year old in May 2003 She is a Purebred Nubian Dairy Goat Since we have so many critters, We have to find ways to do certain things. (Can't jump up and take them to the vet for every little thing) And the weight is needed for many things; Breeding, Administering vaccinations or medications, Growth monitoring (etc.) So when it comes time to determine the weight of our goats.. We depend on a regular (sewing) tape measure.. How do you determine weight from a tape measure ?? You measure the heart girth of the goat and then refer to the chart at the link below to approximate the weight.. The girth is just behind the front legs and up around the chest.. Pull the tape snuggly and record your data.. |
Then refer to this CHART and there you have it.. Here Jeni finds that Cynamon's Heart Girth is 25 inches.. so we estimate her weight as 57 pounds.. This chart only works for Dairy goats |
