Mother, you have gone away
But our hopes do not flee,
Because we know some glorious day
Your shining face in heaven we'll see.

How great the suffering she bore
with patient deed and word;
Give us the strength to face each day
In such a manner, Lord.

Some day we'll make that journey through
The valley dark as night;
We'll come to you and safely too
By Jesus Christ, the Light.

Then what a great reunion there
In heaven's gleaming gates;
We'll not despair but think of you
Oh, Mother dear, who waits.

We cannot express with words
our true feelings toward the one
we love so well; as Abraham Lincoln once said:
"All that I am or hope to be,
I owe to my mother." Truer
words of love could never have
fallen from any man's lips.
