| Introduction |
| Welcome to the Iditarod webquest. The city of Nome has been stricken with diptheria and they are snowed in. You have been selected to be part of the relay race to save Nome! You have been given a team of dogs and a sled to help deliver the serum. |
| Task |
| Your job is to plan a 5 day journey into the backwoods of Alaska during one of the worst winters of all time. You will need to come up with a list of the 15 most important items that you can carry. Remember, all of these supplies need to fit in the sled and they will be carried by the team. Next to each of these items there must be an explanation as to why you chose it or its importance in survival. |
| Process |
| Begin this quest by reading and researching different articles found on www.Iditarod.com and www.Cabelasiditarod.com. Use the format sheet that I have given you to organize your items from most important to least important followed by an explanation as to why you picked it.. You may also use books in the classroom or from the library. |
| Evaluation |
| How am I going to be graded? There will be 2 assessments. A rubric will be available for the written portion of the assignment. All students will have received one in class. The second part of the assessment will be based on an oral presentation to be given in class. |
| Conclusion |
| Congratulations! You have successfully delivered the serum to Nome! You and your team are hero's and there will be a statue put up in your honor. Hmmmmm, I wonder what your next quest will be? |
