Valanice Twyla Ainsley
		Valanice is a whimsical little 12 year old who, while very talented at magic, prefers all things muggle simply because she doesn't trust magic. There's not very much reason for her distrust of magic, but she thrills in muggle things because she went to a muggle primary school before coming to Hogwarts and became completely innundated with the culture. She loves movies, video games, fantasy novels, and all those other muggle forms of entertainment. She prefers ballpoint pens and mechanical pencils to quills and loose leaf to scrolls. She likes to do things with her hands if she can't just play on her GameBoy SP, which, unfortunately, won't work at Hogwarts, so she didn't bother to bring it. She has two siblings, both more than seven years older than her. Her family has no house traditions. Her mother and brother were Hufflepuffs, her father was a Ravenclaw and her sister was a Gryffindor. The sorting hat had a trial with her and almost put her in Hufflepuff like her dear brother, but in her bitterness she suggested Slytherin to it, since everyone in her family had predicted she'd be in Slytherin. Most of her friends, however, are in Hufflepuff. Valanice seems older than she is, and is certainly wise beyond her age. This is her siblings' influence. However, she still plays pretend and dress-up and all that. She is easily given to sudden obsessions--she is obsessed instantly with whatever game or book she's been engrossed in most recently. And she tends to come up with rather creative ways to express this obsession--she is a gifted child, almost a prodigy; she never, ever studies for her classes, but she's always researching something else that tickles her fantasy better. Still, she gets wonderful grades, even if she only does the homework and takes notes. She has a pet owl, named Graham after the main character in her favorite computer game series, King's Quest. Graham is huge and dark, which serves Valanice well because she often has her mother send her novels and odd craft material she can't obtain at Hogwarts. Graham is large enough to handle that sort of mail.
