Trent Sumner
Trent is a forest ranger of the classical fantasy type. And he's a half-elf. Think of him as a combination of Aragorn and Legolas, but not as cute as either. He's reserved and removed, dark and gloomy--but with the right motivation, he'll be a very useful part of your party. He's skilled in all sorts of things, from first aid to fencing.

PERSONAL HISTORY: Trent is the illegitimate child of a human man and an elven woman. Love-child would be an innapropriate term, because with elves of that sort, there is no love. After the incident, Trent's father was descovered at the outskirts of his village, dead. Murdered by his elven mistress. Then, many months later, Trent was discovered in the same woods, abandoned by that same heartless elf who'd given him life. He wasn't pretty or entertaining enough for her to keep.
It must be kept in mind that, in the world where Trent is from (called Generia, from another RP campaign I participated in),
all elves are evil and hedonistic. There is no such thing as a good elf. This leaves the people of his world with a certain prejudice, which strongly affects Trent. Not only does he bear the prejudice against elves himself, he is also the victim of it because of his elven features. But he is far more human than elvish.
Trent was raised by the villagers who found him, in the memory of his murdered father. But he was keenly aware that he was different and he never much liked being around his peers. He found that, while many considered him interesting in an exotic way, they didn't want to spend much time with him because of his elvish stigma. He grew to be nervous around crowds, reviling the elven hedonistic ways, and his fear of crowds became a full phobia. Seeking to deny himself any pleasure that might suggest his mother's lifestyle, Trent left his village and started to live on his own.
In his wanderings, Trent acquired his many skills. He even, in a flight of curiosity, convinced the elves of a certain enclave to teach him a little of their tongue, though not much. They were not patient teachers, nor did he wish to linger long in their hated realm, so crowded with sin and elves. He is now almost one with the woods, owing partly to his origens, though he won't admit it. He is also a regular patron of the bars in his ranger region. He tends to sit darkly in the corner near the fireplace in each of these, and, while he doesn't drink much, he drinks long. He makes for a foreboding presence.
Trent is a seasoned adventurer. The most important campaign he went on (or rather, the one with the most lasting effects on him) was one in which he and his party were required to bring together one member of all the major species of Generia for a single portrait sitting. There were good and bad parts to this adventure, of course, and they never did get an elf. Trent pretended to be the elf. There was, in that adventure, a certain conflict with the army of Yort in which Trent managed to wrangle himself a lovely, well-forged sword (standard Yort issue). Trent refuses to let it out of his sight now.
Trent is now reticent to join a party, but he can be convinced. Sufficient need on the part of the party could convince him (because he is mostly human) or possibly riches, although maybe not simple gold. Romance isn't likely to tempt him, because he loathes the thought of himself behaving anything like his elven kin.
