Chapter 10 |
(The next week Taylor has avoided AJ all together and buried herself into her work. Reagan and Nick have talked a couple of times both worried about their friends. Two weeks after the last party, there is another party at Brian and Leighanne’s house. Taylor and Reagan have arrived at the house and go over to Brian and Leighanne.) Leighanne: (hugs Reagan and Taylor) I’m glad you guys came. Reagan: Yeah well I had to drag her out but she’s here. Taylor: Yeah yeah. You all remember what happened last time…that’s NOT happening again. Brian: Don’t worry I have just the thing for you. (Goes into the kitchen and comes back out carrying a 2 liter bottle of Sprite) Here ya go. Taylor: (laughing) For me…thanks…but you know…Sprite isn’t any better than alcohol on me. Leighanne: Don’t worry…we won’t let you go too wild. Taylor: Thanks. Reagan: (goes over and gets a drink) Taylor: You’re drinking now? Reagan: I always drink thank you. You’ve never noticed before. Taylor: Just don’t go to wild now. Reagan: Tay…who are you talking to…it’s me Reagan…I’m never bad. Taylor: Yeah yeah alright. I’ll be watching. Reagan: Whatever. (A few hours later, Taylor has been sitting in the corner of the room with her Sprite…she hasn’t had anything hard to drink all night. AJ is constantly staring at her and she refuses to make eye contact. Reagan, on the other hand, has been drinking all night. She’s been going wild. She’s dancing with someone when the guy leans over and whispers in her ear, he then grabs her hand and leads her outside.) Taylor: (watches her go outside) Oh shit! (Runs outside after her) Reagan? Reagan: (turns around and stumbles over to Taylor) Hey you. Taylor: Ray what are you doing? Reagan: Well…this nice guy over there wants to (whispers) fool around. Taylor: Yeah ok…none of that. Reagan: Oh come on Tay…you gotta let me be free for once. It figures that just when I get the guy you have to come in and ruin all my fun. Taylor: That’s what you think this is? Reagan: You’ve never bothered with me before and now that I’m gonna get some you’re upset. Well…go away. (Goes back over to the guy) Taylor: (walking over to her) Ray, I don’t think this is such a good idea. Guy: Are you her mother? Taylor: Listen horn ball, I’m not going to let you go anywhere with my friend so if you please we’ll be leaving now. (Grabs her hand) Guy: I don’t think so. She wants to come with me…isn’t that right? Reagan: (nods) Taylor: She isn’t thinking clearly…Ray come on. Let’s go home. Reagan: (pulling away) NO! I’m tired of you coming home and telling me all those stories about the guys you’ve made out with…now it’s my turn. If you want to go home fine I’ll see you later. AJ: (coming up behind the girls) What’s going on? Reagan: Nothing. Taylor’s just jealous. Taylor: This guy is trying to take Reagan somewhere. AJ: Come on Reagan…time to go. (Grabs her arm) Reagan: Man now everyone’s cutting in on my action. Guy: Excuse me, but the lady wants to come with me. Reagan: That’s right…what’s you name again? Guy: Joe. Reagan: Joe…wow what a name. AJ: Alright that’s it…come on Reagan. (He picks her up and puts her over his shoulder.) Reagan: Hey no fair. Taylor: Shut up Reagan. (They walk to the backyard and AJ tosses her in the pool) AJ: Cool off in there. Taylor: I could have handled it myself thank you. AJ: Yeah well you looked like you needed help. Taylor: Well I didn’t. She just didn’t understand what she was doing that’s all. Reagan: (floating on her back in the pool) Wow…look at the stars. AJ: I don’t think that guy would have let you take her away that’s why I came over. Taylor: So what now you’re the big macho man that rescues damsels in distress? AJ: No. Look, what is your problem? Taylor: My problem is you and the way you handle things. Reagan: (still in the pool) If I try real hard…I bet I can touch the bottom of the pool. Taylor: So tell me…have you even told Amanda yet? AJ: I…well…I…ummm… Taylor: Save it. I know the answer to that. AJ: Look I didn’t want to start another fight with her. I did tell her I slept with someone I just didn’t tell her who it was. Taylor: And that’s supposed to be better? Reagan: (still in the pool) Hey guys…I don’t feel so hot. AJ: I was honest with her isn’t that what I should’ve done? Taylor: You were honest up to a point…you didn’t tell her the whole truth. Reagan: (trying to get out of the pool) No really…I don’t feel so good. Can someone help me please? AJ: So what do you want me to do completely ruin my relationship with her all together…cause if I tell her that…she’ll flip. Taylor: Did you ever think that maybe you and her weren’t meant to be? (She walks over to the pool, helps Reagan out, and they go home.) |
