Chapter 8

(Goes back out into the dining room. When she gets in there she sees that her mom has finished breakfast and has already left)
Kayla: What happened exactly?
Charlie: Oh you know how she gets. After she asked him about his female friends she went on to discuss his future plans. She then said excuse me and left.
Kayla: Why does this have to happen now? (Kayla runs upstairs)
Ann: (comes back in and hands Charlie his coffee) Here you go. What happened?
Charlie: Just so you know, Carol is not always like this. She’s just worried about Kayla. I’m going to check on Carol. (Charlie gets up and takes his coffee to find Carol)
(Kevin and Ann are left there alone)
Ann: Why don’t you go and check on Kayla?
Kevin: Ok mom. 
(Kevin joins Kayla in their room…Kayla is lying on the bed crying)
Kevin:  Babe, you ok?
Kayla:  Do you think they will mind if I plan a lil murder?
Kevin:  Ummmm, I think so.
Kayla:  Damn!
(Kevin goes to sit on the bed next to Kayla)
Kevin:  It will be ok.  We have a paaaaaaarty tonight.
Kayla:  I don’t wanna.
Kevin:  (gives her the puppy dog eyes)
Kayla:  oh, no u don’t…not…the puppy dog eyes. 
Kevin:  (he is still giving her the puppy eyes…but he also starts to whimper)
Kayla:  (pats Kevin on the head) Good boy.  Good.
Kevin:  (starts to tickle Kayla)
Kayla:  (screams)  NOT THE ARM PITS!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO
(knock on the door and it’s Charlie)
Charlie:  Who’s being tortured in here?
Kayla:  Daddy help!!!!
Charlie: (comes into the room…goes to help Kayla…but not really…he joins Kevin)
Kayla:  NOT THE DOUBLE TEAMING…NOOOOOOOOOOO I’M GONNA PEE IN MY PANTS!
(both of the men stop and back away slowly)
Kayla:  (picks up Quincy)  This cat is my hostage!  Try that again…and the cat gets it.
(everyone bursts into laughter)
(Enter Carol)
Carol:  What is going on in here?
Charlie:  Nothing but a good ol’ tickle-fest.
(Kayla holds up her fingers like a cross)
Carol:  So Kayla this is your room? (Looks at Kevin) Where do u sleep Kevin?
Kevin:  Uhhhh…I’M COMING MOM! (Runs out of the room)
Carol:  That was rude.
Kayla:  Not as rude as your billion-question game at breakfast.  We have a party to get ready for…so go do that.
(Carol leaves and Kayla and her father are still in Kayla’s room)
Kayla:  Dad…why does she hate me sooo much?
Charlie:  She doesn’t hate u…I don’t know why she is sooo against u having a life.  But let’s not worry about that now…we have a party to get ready for! (leaves the room)
(Kevin peaks in the room)
Kevin:  Is it safe?
Kayla:  Yup yup…now what are u gonna wear today for the party?
(the two go to pick out outfits for the party, then they were going to go set up for the party…so they go downstairs to find out that Ann had already finished decorating)
Kayla:  Wow!
Kevin:  Mom, this place looks awesome…thank you.  (hugs his mother)
Ann:  No problem…you 2 just relax…this is your day.  Why don’t u go get ready..people should be coming soon.
(Kayla salutes Ann and heads upstairs…Kevin is right behind her)
