Zedd stormed back in while Radlin was lecturing WhiteShadow on magic techniques and speed casting.
"Now, you see, if you talk faster, you can cast faster, but you must keep your words clear and distinct or..." Radlin was interrupted as Zedd slammed his fist down on the bar.
"Curse this guild! Let's get a move on! What's the point of all this anyway?" He cursed.
WhiteShadow looked fearful for a moment, thinking that Zedd would reveal why they were really here. Radlin, however, stayed perfectly calm.
"If you want to leave, Zedd, there's the door. " Radlin waved a hand at the nearest exit. "And if you don't like this guild, we can revoke your trial membership and you can deal with all these hunters." Zedd paled for a moment, for even he wasn't he proud enough to take on a room full of mercenaries just to prove a point. However, his colour returned as he thought of kow-towing to this would be teacher. Turning on his heel, he began walking for the door, and more importantly, the front counter.
Sam cocked an eyebrow and Radlin rested his elbows on the bar behind him, taking another sip of his beer in the process. "Well, I didn't see that coming."
Reaching the front counter, Zedd rang the bell impatiently, waiting for Laya to return. Although he and Radlin's conversation had largely been ignored, most of the bar room was watching Zedd closely, the bounty on his head demanding their attention. Yasmine came back in the front door to see Zedd demanding to know what jobs were on offer from Laya.
Laya looked up at the fiery NeiChild for a moment, before entering some commands on her console. "Before you sign on for a job, let me make a few things clear, since you're new. Firstly, you may only take on one job at a time. No other hunters may attempt that job while you are working on it, and you cannot work on any other jobs that are taken. Finally, a job is a contract - you either complete it or willingly disavow yourself of it. Obviously, this doesn't happen very often as it damages a hunter's reputation.
"Now, will you be taking on a job yourself or with your three companions?"
Zedd smirked for a moment, turning to give Radlin a telling look. Radlin, however, simply took another drink of his ale. His smirk returning to his customary scowl, Zedd turned back to the receptionist. "It'll be for all of
my party."
Ignoring the emphasis, Laya simply reaches for her monitor, spinning it around to face Zedd. Paying little attention to the jobs calling for the capture of the NeiChildren and the eradication of WhiteShadow, he simply presses one near the bottom of the list. "We'll take that one."
