After wandering from one end of the town to the other, WhiteShadow came upon a building unlike the others. This one was bigger, with a large area of grass surrounding it. Sneaking into the building, WhiteShadow found a comfortable spot in the highest area of the building, amongst those which he later came to know as rafters. Awaking in the morning, WhiteShadow looked down through the rafters to see a group of Palmans below him. They all seemed to be following the instructions of the one at the front, who looked older then the others, with blazing red hair and a beard, where the others had none. Although WhiteShadow could barely understand the words, WhiteShadow recognised the movements. The Palmans were being shown how to perform the techniques that had been used against WhiteShadow many times when being chased out of town. Suddenly, the red-haired man turned to one of the others, who seemed to be suffering from some ailment WhiteShadow couldn't recognise. The red-haired man cried out a word, and bright light leaped out from his hands, lancing through the student’s body... WhiteShadow is astounded; and frightened - he doesn't want to believe that the leader of these Palmans would kill one of their own, and this fills him with fear.... Returning to his wild beginnings, he gives a wild scream of horror. The teacher stops, looking up at the darkness amongst the rafters, but WhiteShadow has already realised his folly, and is racing across the thin boards, moving with such speed and agility that all the teacher can detect is a white blur of the Motavian racing out of sight... The Palmans disband for the day, searching the rooftop for the source of the noise, but nothing is found, as WhiteShadow wisely enough hides out for the day amongst the many training grounds surrounding the building. He watches, and waits, until the Palmans leave for the day - as they always do. Waiting for the moment when he can re-enter his adopted sanctuary, WhiteShadow is shocked to see the same suffering student, apparently attacked by his teacher, walk out of the building, laughing and talking with his comrades, completely cured of the ailment that plagued him earlier! WhiteShadow is stunned, amazed at the lead Palmans power; all he had seen in the forest was destruction and survival; never this need to take care of each other, and even the ability to heal the others! It was amazing to the as yet uninitiated WhiteShadow. Night fell, and WhiteShadow returned to his home above the room which he had found to be called a "classroom", where he is shocked to discover that for the first time, the teacher (for that is what the others called him) had not yet left for the night, a strange event. He seemed to be in a sort of agitation, as he pored over book after book, momentarily pausing to underline a certain passage with his quill, before weaving his hands through the air and then muttering some sort of chant... But always the result would be nothing. Cursing in the Palman tongue, the teacher would then get up, throwing the particular book to the floor and grabbing another. As the night wore on, he got even more agitated, his periods of study becoming more and more sporadic, as his times of frustration became even more violent... Finally, he gave a great cry, similar to the War Cry that WhiteShadow had learned to use, and then brought his hands together, muttering another, different chant. Parting his hands, the teacher looked up to the roof, and WhiteShadow saw a small ball of fire between the teacher's hands, growing bigger and bigger as his hands moved away from each other and the chanting intensified. Finally, the teacher brought his hands together once more, behind the fireball, and with a look of absolute rage on his face fired it up towards the roof, and towards WhiteShadow... WhiteShadow leaps, his heart pounding wildly in his chest as the roof beams he was just standing on catch alight with a great burning flame - grasping one of the higher rafters, WhiteShadow hangs on like grim death, his feet dangling just above the tallest leaps of the flames. He feels the heat of the flames, and almost chars the fur on his feet, but almost as soon as it began the flames die down, leaving the roof slats completely unscarred. The teacher turns away and leaves, muttering to himself "Damn rats" as he closes the door behind him. Dropping down again, WhiteShadow examines the roof slats closely, feeling the heat radiating from them, but still, no blackening or charring of any kind. These Palmans! They`re amazing! He thinks to himself as he settles down for the night... But his sleep is troubled as he thinks over the many powers these Palmans have, and what they could do to him... Awakening from his troubled sleep, WhiteShadow drops down to the floor of the room to study the many tomes that lie scattered about; thinking to himself that they must contain a power far greater then the one the Palman teacher currently wields, if he is to get so frustrated about it. Unable to read, WhiteShadow studies the strange characters on the pages until the sun rises, when he returns to the rafters for sleep, missing out on the lessons for the day. The next night, the teacher stays behind again, studying the books like his life depended upon it. Again he leaves, unsatisfied, and WhiteShadow spends the rest of the night trying to decipher the strange markings, and at times mimicking the movements of the teacher... Time passes, with the same ritual passing each night, and each time WhiteShadow gains more of a grasp of the written and spoken word. He also learns more about the Palman teacher, that he is called Radlin Javik, and that he seems to belong to some strange breed of Palmans known as a "multi-talented" Palman. The meaning of the term still escapes WhiteShadow as he studies the teacher and his passion for learning this technique that WhiteShadow has come to know as "Purification". This continues for weeks, until one night WhiteShadow drops down from the rafters, as per usual, and begins to imitate, but this time to also build upon, the teacher's movements. Chanting the magical words he had learned from the books, WhiteShadow focuses his energy via a restrained War Cry and then attempts to perform the technique on a passing rat, ridden with disease.
		What'll happen next? Oh, oh God - I can't stand the tension! Go on - quickly! But if I've irritated you enough already, you can go home just to spite me!
