We as individuals can fold up and let these attacks rob us of that freedom, or bond together as a nation indivisible under God; to hold on to that which our forefathers have bled and died to secure for us. First, we must not give in to rage. No matter what has happened, nothing will ever be made better if we give in to the insanity the rage brings. Second, we must not fall to the urge of "getting even" by doing harm to those who have nothing to do with the events in Pennsylvania, Washington D. C., or New York. Nothing is ever resolved by an act of anger. Next, Stay close to The Creator. Ask for Guidance, Strength, and Hope on a daily basis. Furthermore, learn about and practice good citizenship and patriotism. Rediscovering our history and heritage will help. Read to our children about our founding fathers. Talk to them about the price paid with our dearest blood by those who bought our freedom. Tell them of our triumphs as a nation and also of our greatest failures so they may understand that our nation is not perfect, but we strive to become a better nation by learning from our mistakes. Teach our children to respect our Flag and National Treasures and why this is necessary. In continuing, find a need in the community where you live and fill it. Whether is giving blood, donating funds, providing a service, or just listening to the fears of others and helping them cope. Work with others. Everyone can fill a need no matter how small it seems. Lastly, support our nation and its leaders by backing them and answer any call to service that may be placed upon us. Know that our road ahead may be uncertain and at times difficult. We may be asked to sacrifice and do without for the greater good. This we can do. Some in our military or emergency services may be asked for the ultimate sacrifice. We must honor these people and their families by not failing to step up when we are called to serve. We the People can persevere. |

The day began as so many others...then was burned into our memory by the shock and horror of the acts. Our Nation staggered, stunned by the carnage and loss of inocent lives. Out of the ashes of our anger and grief a new resolve was forged in the dying embers of chaos - something thought lost was re-awakened. We arose as one nation - once more indivisible under God. And with a Unified Voice our nation boldly stated - "Enough! Never Again!" |

These are trying times. The tragic events of September 11, 2001 have held hostage the Spirit of our Great Nation, while giving birth to resentments toward all those of Islamic faith or Arabic Heritage. First let me assure you. Our Spirit as a nation of free people is alive and well in each and every one of us. The extent of allowing the fears and horror of the attacks upon our freedom to live our lives as we see fit, is a choice that we alone can make. |
