Rescue Work - 2001
July 25, 2001 - My first rescue was Sammie.  She was initially to be just a pull from a shelter and then we'd transfer her to a foster home ... but she was soooo sick.  My husband felt she needed some down time and so we decided to keep her with us until we got her up on her feet and found a good home.  How did we know it would take just a month.
Sammie - Five Days Later Sammie Responded quickly to her thyroid medicine and corn/wheat free diet.  With daily Aveeno baths, she soon felt pretty enough for a nice sunbath and photograph.  The bow was a special touch to make her feel pretty...
Sammie on her last day - August 23, 2001
Sammie was adopted by a wonderful couple living in Virginia. It was a sad day as I watched my first little rescue drive away, but as we get those daily email updates on her progress, we are assured we made a
PERFECT match!  Sammie also got a new Westie sister - Brogan!
Cho-Cho.... Here Comes the East Central Illinois RescueTrain!
Hey!  Those aren't Westies!!!
Nope, but
all dogs are allowed to board - free of charge...
FYI - transporters are always needed... can you volunteer?
September 1, 2001 -  Labor Day Weekend
Angie, Charolie and Joyce volunteer in helping three Boston Terriers get to their destination. Here in Indianopolis, their shift ends and the next begins... one of these little ones will end up living on Park Avenue, New York!!!
And to think she spent her first four years in a puppy mill.
Our fourth volunteer was too tired to take his picture with the group. We start training them young for the rescue work here in Illinois!
