Is it really better to give than receive? We hear that a lot, especially during the holidays, but is it true? It certainly seems counter-intuitive. And let's face it, it wouldn't be said so much if most didn't hold the opposite view. What the proponents of the view never seem to tell you, however, is WHY it is better to give than receive. Well, it's time that reason was finally given. Here it is. The reason it is better to give than it is to receive is because whenever you give someone something with no strings attached, the universe finds a way to give you back what you gave and then some. Why that happens to be true is a mystery, but I invite you to try it out. Go and give a 20 dollar bill to someone who really needs it, like a homeless guy, and just see what happens in the very near future. You will not only get back the value of what you gave, but considerably more. The same mechanism also makes it impossible to advantage yourself from stealing. Go and try it out if you want. Anything you steal will not only be taken away eventually, but you will also lose considerably more than that. This is why you really shouldn't worry so much if someone rips you off. You will always get back what you lost and then some. It may take some time, but it will happen. This is the way the universe works, and all who don't understand this are doomed to a petty and fearful existence. A large part of happiness -- and therefore immorality -- is seeing this mechanism play itself out time and again. |
