JUST BECAUSE IT'S CARVED IN STONE...
  Remember, gravestones are only secondary sources of genealogical information.  If I have information from a more direct source (birth and death certificates, burial records, etc.), I have used that information in the links to the gravestone images.  In some cases, the stones themselves will supply contradictory dates.  In the example below, note the differing dates on the large family monument and the smaller stones marking individual graves.  What can a researcher do in these cases?  Plentiful use of the word "circa" is advised.
