Mackenzie put the key in the lock and gently pushed the door open. The heavy door creaked open as it revelaed an empty stage. Mackenzie walked through the door and gently pushed it back to close. the stage was dark but she could still make out the four red chairs in the front. As she walked closer to the stage she could hear the roar of laughter echo and boune off the walls. Mackenzie got up on stage and turned aroud to face the empty rows of seats. "Now I can see why he loved this so much." She turned around and faced the four preformers chairs again. She walked up to the fourth chair and sat down with a sigh. "The giraffe man Ryan Stiles." she laughed to herself Tears began to form in the corners of her eye but she ignored them. She remembered why she was here and quickly got off the chair to look under it. Mackenzie smiled when she saw the letters m and s carved in the wood. "Dad always told me he carved our initals under his chair." She ran her fingers over the carvings. She got up and wiped a stray tear from her cheek and made her way off the stage and down the hallway to her dad's office. The door was closed but she gently eased it open. She smiled as she saw the room cluttered with things all over the place. "Just like at home." Mackenzie walked over the piles of shoes and papers toward the desk. Papers were scattered everywhere on the desk but one thing stood out. It was a picture of the whole family. She grabbed the picture and set it on the couch next to the desk. As she continued to walk around the office tears began rolling down her cheeks. Her face was getting hot. Mackenzie couldn't take it anymore. She sat down on the couch and held the picture in her hands. She gently traced her dad's face with the tips of her fingers and tears puddled one by one on Ryan's face. "I miss you dad. Come home." She buried her face in the couch and cried till she could cry no more. "I miss you dad. Come back." |
