Greg laughed as he watched Jennifer run around the kitchen. "Here are her bottles , her dipers, and toys, her crackers." "Jennifer we'll be fine." He looked over at Marissa sitting in her high chair. He still couldn't believe that he was a daddy. "I'll be back tonight. My cell will be on." Greg walked over to Jennifer and kissed her which quickly turned into a deeper kiss. "Marissa will be fine." She sighed and walked over to her baby. Jennifer ran her fingers through her soft red colored curls. This was the first time, since she had Marissa, that she was leaving. "Greg I have to go. Please take care of her." Greg and Marissa laughed as Jennifer left the kitchen in a hurry. Greg sighed as the kitched door slammed shut. "Alright babe, it's you and me." Marissa stretched out her chubby little hands and reached for Greg. Greg put Marissa in his arms and she giggled. He began to tickle her, untill the phone rang. With Marissa still in his arms Greg picked up the phone. "Hello?" "Hi. It's Colin." "You ready to go?" "Yeah I'll be there in five." Greg hung up the phone and smiled at Marissa. "It's time to go babe. It's just you and me." He put Marissa in her play-pen and ran up the stairs to change clothes. Colin's car pulled up infront of the house and Greg went through a mental check-list of everything he needed. "Cell phone, smokes, money. I got it all." He put the alarm on the house and headed out to Colin's blue suv sitting in the driveway. "Hey Greg." "Hey Col." He put his seatbelt on and became comfortable. "How's Marissa?" "She's perfect." They contimued driving and the fact that Greg had left Marissa in the house didn't even cross his mind. *Later That Night* Greg walked in the kitchen and threw his jacket on one of the tall wooden chairs. He had just had a busy day with Colin and all he wanted to was to relax with his family. He walked into the living room and was surprised to see Jennifer sitting on the couch. "Hi Greg." she smiled sweetly. He gave her a kiss and sat down next to her. "Hey. Your home early." "Yeah well I wanted to see Marissa." "Well she's just fine." He began to untie his shoes. "How was your day?" she asked Greg stretched his arms above his head. "It was really great actually." She nodded and kept the smug smile on her face. "And Marissa?" "She was..... oh shit!!!" That's when Jennifer lost it. She stood up and tears began to stream down her cheeks. "You left her here." "Jennifer I'm sorry." He stood up and grabbed her hands. "Your sorry! Do you know what could have happened?" He held her in a tight hug. "Let's just be glad that she's ok." "How could you do that?" She pulled away and looked into his eyes. "I forgot. I'm sorry." "Whatever Greg. I'm going to bed." She walked up the stairs to the bedroom. As soon as Greg heard the door close he flopped down on the couch. "Why do I always mess things up?" There was nothign he could do now so he decided to go to bed. Sleeply he made his way up the stairs and stopped at Marissas room. He heard her little snore and smiled. Greg opened the door and found Marissa sleeping happily in her crib. He gently picked her up and she nuzzled into his chest. He loved holding his baby. Marissa Anne Proops, still hard to get used to. Greg sat down in the rocking chair and covered her with her favorite blanket. He brused some curls away from her eyes and smiled. "At least you still love me." |
