CHURCHVILLE, MD - On June 13, Wanda and Dodo arrived from Germany for an extended stay with Tom and Wendy. The first week of their visit, Wendy took them grocery shopping and to see a movie. Find out which movie they saw on page E13. The next week, Wanda and Dodo went to visit with friends in Viginia.
The week after that, they went to Havre de Grace's Fourth of July celebration. While Wendy marched in the parade (learn more about that on page E14), the rest of the family, including Nathan and Shanna, watched it. They went home for dinner, hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill, and returned to Havre de Grace for the fireworks. After the fireworks, Wendy and Dodo went on some carnival rides together, where Wendy threw up on a twirling yellow bear. Dodo played some carnival games and won a fish necklace for Wanda, a small stuffed porpoise for Wendy, and a large stuffed bear wearing overalls and a tool belt for himself. Aside from Wendy smelling like puke at the end of the night, everyone had a good time.
The next couple of days were filled with activity. Wendy took Wanda and Dodo to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. They had a good time, but Wendy was disappointed with the "Shark Quest" promotion. Having visited the aquarium last year, she didn't see any more sharks than on her last visit.The next day, Mom and Dad arrived to visit. After a day to relax, they took Wanda and Dodo to Pittsburgh to visit Donnie. Although Wendy wanted to go with them, she had to work, but they all reported that they had fun. The next night, Wendy got to join in the activities by going to dinner at the Outback with them. Dad left the following day, since he had to leave the next day for Korea for work.
About a week later, Wendy took Mom, Wanda, and Dodo shopping for swimsuits and groceries because later that week they all went to Ocean City. Find out how their trip went on page T44. Two days after returning from the beach, Mom left for home, and the next day Wanda and Dodo flew back to Germany.
