FAQ |
What happens to the doves after they are released? They will circle the release point to determine where their home is, gather together as a flock, and fly directly home to their loft. The birds are trained at an early age to return home to their loft. We do releases up to 100 miles of our loft, but the birds are capable of returning home if released hundreds of miles away. How do they know where home is? A well trained bird appears to use many senses to "navigate". The inner ear of the dove has an iron rich otolithic organ the helps them sense their position in the air using earths magnetic energy, as well as their ability to hear distant sounds, good eye sight and sense of smell . Their ability also depends on good breeding, health, and extensive training. |
