Jana Young

Linda Russell

Cynthia Lawson

Leslie Barstow

Laina Reeves

James Smithhart

The meeting was started at 7:10pm at Aviation Training Center at Boeing Field

The minutes of 31 August 2004 were approved as read and amended.

This past month we deposited $126 and have $3090 in the bank.  There is also cash and un-deposited checks in the cash box that Laina will deposit.

Inventories:  Jana has collected our chapter banner, lots of supplies from Cynthia, picnic supplies.

Jana has undertaken the following duties: Inquire about our scholarship for March 2005 from international – they told us we need to allow for entries from other chapters if we are to present it during the conference, but can list “preference for Washington State Chapter members”; Amend our by-laws to include a quorum standard for executive committee votes; contact Chazman to find out about the new aviation high school and the need for mentors.

James will continue to look for a solution for our email communication problems, Romayne suggested Raincross Technologies, Cynthia suggested a paid dedicated service for both web page and email.

Jayne suggested a calling tree to help stimulate more member participation .

Someone proposed fundraising this year via Pampered Chef – need to look into supplies, and a location.

Linda will ask International for more magazines, we are out.

Cynthia is updating our Washington State Chapter applications and will email the file to James.

Our chapter has purchased Quicken and Laina will find out who has the software (Kit or Donna maybe?).  Leslie needs to be reimbursed for $125 for chapter dues from June 2004.

Gaylen has a list of volunteer speakers (may have been forwarded to Renea?)

Our Chapter report is due to international the end of December for July 1 – December 31.  James has assigned all committee chairs and officers to have a rough draft of their status in by the October meeting, A final by the November meeting, and Laina’s compiled final out to the committee chairs and officers for a vote by the first week of December so we can send it in by December 15th, 2004!

Goals for 2004-5

  • Speakers for the coming year (is Renea available to be speaker chair?)
  • March 2006 scholarship to be completed by June 2005 so we can get it printed in WIAI magazine – we may have more than one scholarship this time around!
  • Two socials – one around the holidays and another in August.  If we want to use a Park for this event we need to reserve space in March (remember no alcohol in the parks)
  • Tours – we should organize at least one tour of a facility (PAE tower, Seattle ARTCC, Boeing plant in Everett)
  • Events to participate in: NW Aviation Conference in Puyallup, Blackberry fly in – Bremerton, etc.

Next meeting date and place to be announced – James will try and book the museum of flight for Saturday, October 16th, 2004.
