Happy Bucks. It was a snow day, so
meeting attendance is low.
Minutes from
the November 2004 meeting were read and approved as amended. James will post the past minutes on the website
soon. Since we had a holiday party in
December, there were no minutes, only photo’s!
Treasurer’s report was given by Laina Reeves. Her current report states that we
have $3609.41 in our account. There was no transactions since the last
meeting, so the only changes are from interest accrued. It is in our bylaws that we have 2
signatories on our accounts. Laina was
tasked to contact our bank and make sure she and Linda Russell are on our
account as discussed during the last meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
Bylaw changes
Jana Young is still working
on getting us the bylaw changes.
James will send out a notice
requesting volunteers to fill our vacant Recording Secretary position. If we have more than one volunteer we will
hold elections. James will continue to
act as Recording Secretary until we fill this seat.
We need to get our members
listed in our YahooGroups email account.
This will greatly simply our communications. We currently use 3 services from Yahoo for
free: Geocities web site, Yahoo email account, Yahoo Groups account. These all use: WIAIWASHINGTON as their
primary address: ie. wiaiwashington@yahoo.com
for our email address, wiaiwashington@yahoogroups.com
as our mass mailing account and www.oocities.org/wiaiwashington
as our chapter website.
Education -
Laina will do a corrosion presentation at EVCC on February 5th, contact her for
information.

This will be one of our key
events this year, so we need to make sure we support it well. This will primarily be an outreach,
membership and fundraising event. The
theme of this year’s conference is education, which we will try and support.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS for the NW
Aviation trade show! We have members in
the south sound that need to be contacted and ask to help out. Linda volunteered to call our members around
Puyallup to see if we can get support for the booth and greeters. Laina will setup a schedule for all our
activities.
Sissi, James & Patti will
be there for Friday’s setup and all day Saturday and Sunday to help support. Patti will maintain control of the valuables
and cash box during the event. Laina
will hand off those items during the next meeting to her.
WE NEED DONATIONS for our
raffle at the NW Aviation trade show!
Mentoring
David Hyland made contact
with the two high school students that signed up for information from Jayne’s
career day. One 17 year old returned his
call and spent an hour on the phone with David getting information about
becoming both a pilot and a mechanic!
Scholarship 2005
We have not received any
information on scholarship applicants yet.
James will email international and find what when we should expect them.
Fundraising
Jayne made a mailer that asks
for cash donations, more on this later…
NEW BUSINESS:
Saturday, March 19, 2005 is the
GEMS Conference at the Bremerton
campus of Olympic College. They are
requesting we provide a few pilots for three 40 minute workshops for 200+ 5th
thru 8th grade girls. The goal is to
encourage these young girls to start thinking about non-traditional careers
that relate to math and science. There
will be a catered lunch afterwards for the workshop leaders.
Stephanie has resources
regarding flight planning from Big World which may help support the GEMS
conference. James will contact Linda
Golden for more details so we can put together some support for this important
event.
Pampered Chef – Jayne
received word from Rochelle that she is willing to host another Pampered Chef party, and we are working
on putting it together for April – thanks Rochelle!
Stephanie talked about GA Day at Paine Field on May 21st. It is a community event, and our chapter may
want to support it. There will be static
displays, a possible breakfast and the Young Eagles program. We may want to setup a booth and take
donations for candy and such. If we setup
a booth, we would need to give the organizers a contact and an alternate
contact.
Stephanie also brought up the
open house for the Future of Flight
Aviation Center & Boeing Tour which is in July. She is going to send us an invite! – thanks
Stephanie.
FUN BUSINESS:
We passed around photos from
Linda’s photo album from the Christmas party.
Laina will be putting her photo’s on a CD to give to James for posting
on the website and print her photo’s out for our album.
