Minutes were missing from February 2005 meeting

 

Treasurer’s report was given by James (in place of Laina).  Deposits from invitations to donate: $80; NW Aviation Conference $762, 2 Paid Membership (goes to international), $3 happy bucks, Jayne reimbursements $591.55 for supplies; $215 embroidery creations Sweatshirts; $21 bay engravings for name tags.  Our balance is $4172.56.  April meeting will contain cash flow report from Laina.

 

International Conference:

Chapter booth: We have a chapter booth on Thursday 3-5pm.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Jayne has resigned as Director from the chapter, we thank her for all her efforts and wish her the best.

 

Bylaw changes: Jana Young is still working on getting us the bylaw changes.

 

We need to get our members listed in our YahooGroups email account.  This will greatly simply our communications.  We currently use 3 services from Yahoo for free: Geocities web site, Yahoo email account, Yahoo Groups account.  These all use: WIAIWASHINGTON as their primary address: ie. wiaiwashington@yahoo.com for our email address, wiaiwashington@yahoogroups.com as our mass mailing account and www.oocities.org/wiaiwashington as our chapter website.

 

Outreach

Aviation for young women luncheon March 8th, 12:00pm-2:00pm at the museum of flight cafeteria.  Yukiko has set this up.

 

Mentoring

Aviation High School: we will get a report from Jennifer regarding her progress as a mentor.

 

Scholarship 2005:  We will be awarding out $500 educational scholarship during the Dallas conference this year.  Next year we are hoping to award two $500 scholarships!

 

Fundraising

Jayne collected the money from the winning bidder for the ICOM A5 – not sure the exact amount, but is around $350.

Linda reviewed the results from the raffle.  We will keep these records for one year.  We made $55.

 

James is bringing jewelry and chocolates to Dallas for fundraising during the chapter booth times.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Proposal: 7 committee members currently, we will email out a proposal to combine the two secretaries into one position and eliminate the elected director’s position.  This will be mailed out to board members for a vote.

 

Upcoming events:

Saturday, March 19, 2005 is the GEMS Conference at the Bremerton campus of Olympic College.  They are requesting we provide a few pilots for three 40 minute workshops for 200+ 5th thru 8th grade girls.  The goal is to encourage these young girls to start thinking about non-traditional careers that relate to math and science.  There will be a catered lunch afterwards for the workshop leaders.  Stephanie Allen will be supplying visual aids.

 

Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 5:00pm is our Pampered Chef fundraiser – Rochelle Oslick will be hosting, anyone not attending can order from their website (there is a link on our website to get your there under this event).

 

We will try and schedule our April meeting in the evening at a restaurant, the May meeting in Everett the week before the Paine Field GA Day

 

May 21, 2005 – Paine Field GA Day

 

June, 2005 – Stephanie is working on sending us an invite to the new museum at Paine Field.

 

July 6-10, 2005 EAA Arlington– may be too expensive for us to have a booth, but we could try and have a get together

 

July 23, 2005 - Whirly Girls are trying to put on a rotorcraft show at the museum of flight

 

April, 2005 Summer Social - March is the month we can start thinking about reserving tables for our summer social, so if we are going to have it at a public park, we should get in contact with them ASAP and get on the calendar.

 

September, 2005 – Blackberry festival in Bremerton

 

We will also try and schedule enough meetings in advance where we can mail out a quarterly schedule to our members that do not have email.

 

Suggested activities: Tours of ATC facilities – tower, center; Group Museum tour; Boeing plant tour; restoration center tour.

 

FUN BUSINESS:

John Perrell talked about some of his flying experiences, and his book Queen High

Genevieve Kelley talked about her passions for flying helicopters
