Minutes of WAI Meeting
April 8th, 2006
The meeting was held at the Museum of Flight Restoration Center at Paine Field.
Members in attendance: Linda Russell, Jennifer Perry, Laina Reeves, Sheree Van Berg, Kim Blair, Erin Cappel, Trish Beckman, Jana Young, and Charlie Young.
Happy buck descriptions were shared by each member in attendance.
The minutes from the last meeting were reviewed, corrected and Laina moved to approve the minutes, which were approved.
Laina went over the treasurer’s report:
Since the last report, the following deposits were made:

Since the last report the following expenditures were made:
$13.75-Check to Rochelle Oslick, for purchase of 1 sweatshirt and shipping
$40.50-Check to Jayne Mickas-for purchase of jewelry
The current balance on the account is $3932.97, reflected on the Cash Flow Total report. This report reflects cash flow since inception of the Washington State Chapter.
Our Year-to-Date Cash flow report reflects a positive cash flow of $23.34
Trish Beckman gave the Outreach and Education report. She reviewed February’s events including the NW Aviation Trade show and told of upcoming educational events. She will post the list on the internet.
Jana gave a report on membership. She went with Yukiko for the young women in aviation program. Rachelle Oslick was also there. They had 12 or more high school girls attend.
Old Business
Dana NcNutt won the quilt from the raffle at the NW Aviation Trade show. She has already received the quilt and likes it. Sheree is going to make a label for the quilt and send to Trish to pass along to Dana. Sheree hopes to make another quilt for the silent auction at next year’s WAI International conference.
Meg Godlewski did the GEMS program this year with 2 co-workers from Wings.
Jana mentioned that it is time to update the chapter bylaws. They are ready for membership to review, then for executive membership to review and approve. After the review they will be sent to WAI International. Jana is going to email a copy to all board members.
Jana would also like to receive a listing of all the WAI members that live in Washington Sate so we can invite them to chapter meetings.
Jana also found the checklist for state license which costs $10.
New Business
Linda mentioned that the nomination for offices for next year will be next month. The election will be in June and the new term starts July.
Jana is going to contact Jane to order name badges for new members and members who lost theirs.
This year’s scholarship winner is Fidan Thornburg who was unable to attend this meeting. Laina will forward the funds to International, to disperse to Fidan.
There are
two new official WAI Chapters: The Mile High Chapter in
Linda received an email from Sky Control and wondered if we should use it to promote our events. Linda is going to forward the email to Jana so that she can research it.
GA Days is going to be May 20th
at Paine Field sponsored by the Washington Pilots Association. We will have a booth
there and Linda will be there but needs additional volunteers. The pancake
breakfast is at
Trish gave a review of the International Conference and mentioned that next years conference will be in February in Orlando, Florida.
Good of the Order
Laina reviewed The Port-to Port catalog for aviation related jewelry. Rochelle and Laina will make a decision on jewelry to have in stock for fundraising.
Trish Beckman has pictures from the Russian Women in Aviation event and also at the International conference if anyone is interested in seeing them
The next meeting will be held May 13th in Seattle.
