What is Magic?
What is Magic? Ask 100 people, and you'll get 100 different answers.  I have tried to write a diverse explanation of what magic is to Wiccans, and how it is practiced.
The important thing to remember about magic is that it works.  There are a lot of false beliefs and superstitions about magic, and an important job about being a Wiccan is dispelling those myths.  Magic is not some hocus-pocus work of the devil; magic is a manual prayer, a manifestation of desires.  It is commonly belived that Witches sell their souls to the devil to obtain magical powers that will help them to control others.  IN reality, Wiccans do not worship or recognize a deity known as "Satan".  Magic is simply the use of objects and incantations manipulated to create a certain effect.  A more complicated sort of prayer.  Anyone can do it if they believe in themselves.  Magic does work, and you'll get out of it what you put into it.
Another thing to discuss is white and black magic.  White magic is magic that does not hurt anyone.  Simple money spells and beauty spells are good examples of white magic.  Black magic is magic that is used to mainipulate others to your will.  Even if it seems like a good idea at the time, this is never a good thing to do.  Find other alternatives to black magic spells, such as changing the way you
feel about a situation.  Karmically, this is much better for all involved.  There is much discrepancy on the subject of love spells, and whether they should be considered a form of black magic.  Some people believe the only way to safely do love magic is to only do general spells, without using anyone's name.  This is something to decide for yourself, and I have included both such spells on this website.
Something else people seem to disagree on is the spelling of the word "magic".  Some Wiccans believe that the correct spelling is "magick," as they claim that when you spell the word "magic," you are referring to the kind of stage magic done by magicians like David Copperfield.  I have spelled the word "magic" throughout this website for consistancy, and for the reason that I think people will know what I am talking about, and so far, I have found this to be a more universal spelling.
Another thing to consider is ritual tools.  Most spells require the use of certain magical tools, such as a ritual knife or
athame, a wand, and usually candles and incense.  The aquisition of these tools can be as fast and easy as a click on the internet or as long as a lifetime to find just the right tool for you.  I have compiled a fairly complete list of tools on this website, and where to find them.
Above all, whether you are a seasoned Witch, or someone exploring the world of Witchcraft, remember that Wicca is a religion, not a hobby, and is to be taken quite seriously.  Read as much as you can about it, and make sure it is right for you before taking steps like self-initiation.  Start small with magic, and work yourself up to larger goals.  Asssembling an altar is a good first step.  Then learn how to raise and direct your energies.  There is a whole world of possibilities inside of you, and Witchcraft is a wonderful way to discover them.  Always trust the Goddess and you can't go wrong.
