| What is Wicca? If you are a new witch just starting out, or just interested in exactly what Wicca really is, than this is the site for you. It is hard to develop a system of beliefs for yourself when there are so many people out there telling you what to believe. The nice thing about Wicca is that it encourages you to think for yourself. Never, never ever believe something simply because someone tells you it is true. I am going to outline some of the basic beliefs of Wicca to give a general outline. However, there are many different kinds of Wiccans who believe many different things. I recommend reading as much as you can, and just listening to your own heart. Wicca is not for everyone! It is important to remember that Wicca is a religion, not a hobby! It should be taken very seriously. Wicca is, simply put, the worship of nature and the God and Goddess. Wiccans believe that we are all connected to the earth, and are children of the Goddess. Most Wiccans believe in the cycle of living, reincarnation. Wiccans do not believe in the punishment of a "hell", or even an extreme "heaven" per se, rather the "spirit world", a resting place for all souls to meet, go through spirit training, and decide if, when and where to be reincarnated. This is a concept for you to explore on your own, and develop your own ideas. Paganism is the basic faith into which Wicca fits. Paganism is one of the oldest religions around. Pagans can be Wiccan, Druid, New Age, or even Buddhist! An easy way to think of it is: Pagan is to Christian as Wiccan is to Catholic. There are covens popping up all over now, as Wicca is one of the fastest growing religions in the world. Finding a coven to join near you may not be as hard as you think. Try the internet to find them. Most Wiccans, as of now anyway, are solitary, practicing their faith and magic alone. Sometimes, even in secret.
