The Corn Dolly
How to make a Corn Dolly
Brighid's Bed
At Imbolc, the corn dolly is dressed as a bride, symbolizing the Goddess Brighid, the bride, awaiting her husband, the God. I found this elaborate and well-made corn dolly bride at an antique/junktique store! She is in absloutely perfect condition. I paid only $4 for her! She is the second corn dolly I have found at that kind of a store, so if you are not crafty, try hunting for them in places like that. But for those of you wish to be more creative, the instructions are here for you to make your own corn dolly.

"The concept of Brighid's Bed  surrounds the conjoining of the God and Goddess and is a fertility ritual that hearkens the nearing of Spring. The Phallic bread symbolizes the God, the corn dolly the Goddess.
To assemble Brighid's bed you will need; a woven basket about 18 inches long, dried corn husks or raffia grass, white lace, red ribbon, tiny red ribbon roses, white cotton twine, floral tape, white thread, white netting, sewing needles.
Fill the basket with raffia or strips of corn husks. Cover with a layer of white netting. gently lay Brighid into basket, leaving room for the Phallic Bread, (see recipes) which is added during ritual."
