Herbs and Incense |
"Gum mastic, copal, and myrrh incenses produce and other-worldly sensation when burnt in your ritual space. Heather and clove also add to the general ambiance. Your herbs for this Sabbat should include wormwood and mugwort (wash your scrying mirror or crystal ball with an infusion made of these herbs). When mixed with chamomile, valerian can produce a trance-like state. Rosemary is used for rememberance, so it is perfect for Samhain." |
quoted from Yasmine Galenorn's "Dancing With The Sun" |
Colors |
The colors of Samhain have to do with the "dying" earth. The black of the cold night's sky, the colors of the Autumn leaves, reds, orange, gold, browns, rusts and yellows. Also the grey-green of the dying moss, and darker browns of the barren earth. |
Woods |
Hazel wood, Hemlock, and apple wood are all associated with Samhain. Whether you gather 'round a bonfire, sit by a fireplace, or burn a small fire inside your cauldron, you can inscibe runes associated with divination on pieces of wood before placing them on your fire. Watch the flames for symbols and omens. |
