Keep in mind that tools are just objects and aides, and that although they may be very cool and add that certain flair to our ritual and magick, they are not the magick! The wise witch knows that the magick is within her or himself, and does not reside in the acoutriments. We are each of us, one with the Goddess and God, and therefore one with the magick and universal energy source. Never let your lack of available tools stop you from doing ritual or magick.
Any tool that we hold in our hand is just an extension of our hand, any vessel which we use to contain anything is just a convenience which services our purpose. If you don't have ritual tools, do not let that stop you from practicing your religion. If you want to have certain tools which you have not yet acquired, then "call out" to the universe for each tool to connect with you in the right time and in the right way. It is not necessary to spend a lot of money (or even any) on your tools. In fact, many wiccans prefer to use objects of nature for all their tools. It is likely that most wiccans have a mix of both natural as well as man-made tools.
There are particular tools that are commonly used by the majority of wiccans. It is these commonly used tools we will discuss in this section. However, there are a variety of uses that can be applied to each tool. It is always up to the individual, and sometimes varies with circumstances, what use is appropriate for each tool. So just because we discuss a particular use here for a certain tool does not mean that there aren't other possible uses. If it makes sense to you, and it harms none, do as you will.
When you choose a tool for your ritual or magickal use, you will need to first cleanse the tool. (You will find a link below that will take you to a page about cleansing.) Then you will need to dedicate the tool to spiritual use in your wiccan practice. A dedication can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. Just construct some appropriate words that state your intention to use this item only in your religious work, only for good, and in all correctness and blessings. Some wiccans cast a circle before doing a dedication, while others do not feel the need to do so. It is up to you.
Below you will find a list on commonly used tools. Clicking on each will take you to a page where common uses are discussed.
